  1. No doubt, but if they don't win a ring soon, where does it leave them.
  2. Fair answer by Bloom though. He knows what the deal is.
  3. I thought 19 games a year against other AL East teams was a bit much. In 2003-2004 we played the Yanks 52(!!!) times including the playoffs. 13 games a year is still plenty IMHO.
  4. Sure, they'll do that as soon as they eliminate interleague play.
  5. I don't think you can just play for 1 run with this rule, unless of course you're the home team and the visitors didn't score in their half. Worthy of a discussion though...
  6. It's all second-hand accounts from unnamed sources. And although they reflect badly on Cora, from the looks of it, he's far from alone in this book. Note the accusation about the Dodgers being the worst cheaters in baseball. I think the sign-stealing scandal will go down along with PEDs as another dark period in baseball history.
  7. Only based on last year's records. If the Red Sox are better this year, that also means the other AL East teams will benefit from not playing us as much this year.
  8. Good luck with that, dinosaurs.
  9. Kike did fine in 2021. You may be right, but I'd like to see a little statistical underpinning...
  10. Is changing leagues really a big deal any more? Especially with the increase in interleague games.
  11. We have a lot of wild cards in our deck this year. Hopefully no jokers.
  12. Yep, and Whitlock and Bello have quite a range of outcomes too.
  13. There's still the possibility of a trade, which might involve another team that's cutting salary.
  14. I find it interesting that the Sox are still sitting on some cash (below the tax line). I believe it means Chaim isn't quite done yet.
  15. Who can argue with such objective statements supported by such rigorous analysis?
  16. Some writer in The Athletic calculated that the Sox would improve by a few games over last year by the new schedule alone... IF every other team has the same record this year as last year (LOL). The bottom line is, it ain't gonna help much.
  17. Texas actually has a pitcher named Dane Dunning and a (minor league) catcher named Jack Kruger.
  18. Sale's contract actually ends after 2024, but contains a vesting option for 2025, he has to finish in the top 10 for CYA voting in 2024 and be healthy.
  19. moon was just betting the over on Devers, that's all. We know some actual results will be over and some will be under. That's very realistic.
  20. What's with the + signs?
  21. He was at .992 on August 2 last year, so your over play is well founded.
  22. Well played.
  23. The only year Nathan was our ace was 2021. Kluber had a much better fWAR last year. Your basis in facts is pretty sketchy.
  24. It's a valid question, but the Rays do operate on a limited budget, and it appears they decided Eflin was their target this year. Also, you could just as easily ask what the Rays saw in Kluber signing him for 2022.
  25. I couldn't disagree more, and I can't believe you really think that. I think most Red Sox fans, excluding little kids and pink hats, know the history of the team very well, and it means a lot to them. Before 2004, we were all obsessed with the drought since 1918 and all the heartbreaking near-misses.
