  1. He's just working on something!
  2. Yeah, but he's married to Kate Upton.
  3. What the nerds discovered was that the #3 hitter gets fewer RBI opps than the #4 and #5, mainly because of all the times the first 2 batters of the game get out. It seems odd but the numbers do back it up.
  4. Injury concerns are always going to keep some guys out of it.
  5. Yeah, you'd almost say he was judicious in his approach, which is hard to say without laughing.
  6. It would be very nice if he does. I was thinking about the "blind auction" thing they do with players like Yoshida. Why exactly don't they just make it a normal auction?
  7. Rob wants it all!
  8. Good luck persuading Manfred to kill the All Star game cash cow.
  9. Not to mention that 3-run jack last night was off a lefty.
  10. I'd like to have a closer look at those Braves numbers some time.
  11. I usually call it "cautious" optimism, but I think "guarded" is even better.
  12. Yes, that was one hell of a game. And Yoshida looks terrific.
  13. Pitchers Please Stay Healthy is the theme of the 2023 Sox.
  14. Notable Red Sox on shelf to start season: Paxton J Rodriguez Story Mondesi
  15. WBC injuries of note: Diaz - probably season Altuve - estimated 2 months Freeman - doesn't sound serious
  16. Brian Cashman's acquisitions since last year's trading deadline: Montas - injured Bader - injured Trivino - injured Effross - injured Rodon - injured Kahnle - injured
  17. What the hell, there are so many injuries in baseball now, might as well have a thread about them. This will give notin the opportunity to utilize his whole repertoire of injury jokes.
  18. Just arguing for the sake of arguing here, frankly. I don't know what the Mets real revenues and bottom line will be for 2023. But I'm pretty sure not many people do. Also, the other penalties Cohen will be incurring will cost him some prospect talent. He realizes that, of course. His philosophy is he can offset all those negatives with the positives of spending.
  19. And who has the real numbers?
  20. For some reason they don't count all the pitches in spring game box scores. I'm sure Nick has the right numbers.
  21. Forbes shows the Mets 2021 gross revenue as $302 million, with an operating loss of $96 million. https://www.forbes.com/mlb-valuations/list/#tab:overall If someone has a better source than Forbes, let's see it.
  22. The $346 million doesn't include the estimated tax of $100 million.
  23. Right, but how can you compare to other sports that do have a salary cap?
  24. You know better than that.
  25. How does it stick out like a sore thumb in baseball, exactly?
