  1. A luxury, huh? Now you're tempting the baseball gods...
  2. You're just trying to sucker us into yet another DDDebate...
  3. Chris certainly seems to be in good spirits, at least.
  4. "Rife" is such an odd word.
  5. Padres are not shy with the dinero, just ask Xander.
  6. It seems a little ironic or something that one of the most limited franchises money-wise can say that...
  7. Here's all there is so far: Wacha’s deal with the Padres could earn him more than $24MM over four years, with a complex structure including both team and player options.
  8. And how many times have the Red Sox pulled off that fabulous feat?
  9. You're a brave pilot of the Way Back Machine.
  10. But Porcello, who we basically got for Lester, also pitched well in the 2018 postseason, including in relief. I wouldn't undo a thing. Not that it's an actual option LOL
  11. And...the Mariners' trade for Castillo gives you an idea of the hefty package you have to give to get a good starter from another team.
  12. And whether he's right is debatable, but the dearth of pitching prospects is exactly why Keith Law rated our system so low.
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bloom seems to be following the Red Sox tradition of focusing on position players in the draft and IFA signings.
  14. Why not go the direct route instead?
  15. We'll never know for sure, of course, but you can certainly argue that without Lackey and Price, our last title would be in 2007. Hypothetically, if we did know this was true, would anyone want to undo those signings?
  16. Wouldn't you call losing Chapman addition by subtraction?
  17. I guess the Red Sox need to learn how to develop their own at some point.
  18. So who's your preference to Rodon at a similar price tag, and how and when do we acquire him?
  19. Is Rodon's 162 million really a much bigger risk than any other large and long pitcher we could acquire?
  20. Rodon's contract is also just 22 mill higher than Story's.
  21. Well, in a hypothetical world he could have signed Gausman (5.7 fWAR) for 110 mill instead of Story for 140 mill.
  22. That's a fact not in dispute.
  23. I think it makes the game a little better. Seeing a guy smash one on the ground between first and second only to have it played by a guy in short right field wasn't a great thing to watch. Nor was seeing a guy smash one on the ground up the middle only to have it played by the shifted SS.
  24. OK, I should have just said "unnamed sources". As for not pointing fingers, what about the accusations against the Dodgers as the worst cheaters-do they not count?
