  1. Wow, the reductionism LOL In some cases that brag would be true, in some cases not.
  2. Sale will be starting the second game instead of the first game. It's not quite the same as getting benched.
  3. Unsure of relevance to discussion about Sale.
  4. "That's why everybody loves him," Sale said about Cora.
  5. But what if it just makes him available as an emergency fill-in at SS, especially until Mondesi is ready.
  6. I guess Bloom may have given Sox fans a bit of a phobia about a philosophy of "anybody can play anywhere".
  7. I understand the concerns about Dalbec playing SS and guys getting jerked around, but who knows, maybe this time the "versatility" thing will pay off. Dalbec reportedly fielded the position well on Tuesday and he's playing there again today. If it gives Dalbec a better chance of being on the team, and he makes good use of the chance, it'll be a feel-good story. That's my Pollyanna take for the day.
  8. Only our roster specialists can say.
  9. I'm sure it'll be right up there with LIV Golf.
  10. I'm all for it, unless it goes wrong.
  11. Apparently it's not a joke.
  12. I think today was the first time Sox pitching really got demolished this spring.
  13. That's why I said allegedly, not so you could reiterate those points again.
  14. But here's the thing, Nick. The big beef about losing Bogaerts was that the Sox allegedly could have signed him for a reasonable deal before the season but didn't. Sometimes you just can't win.
  15. Spring games mean nothing, but a 3-16 score vs. the Jays does bring back some ugly memories of 2022...
  16. You mention Price and Lackey, and you could go back a little further to Schilling and Beckett. All were critical to our rings, and none will ever be regarded as fan favorites.
  17. The only thing I really disagree with is this: Henry doesn't spend his own money on players. The money comes from us, the fans, and he decides how to use it. Steve Cohen is a different story, this guy is spending so much that a big chunk will come out of his own pocket.
  18. Sound off has been my standard policy for years now.
  19. The Giants have been very up and down over the years. A few years in the top 5. A number of years out of the top 10.
  20. Who would have thunk we'd be behind the Jays, Giants and White Sox in payroll?
  21. If Sale can stay healthy, I have little doubt he can still post eye-popping numbers.
  22. Vaz got 3 @ $10 from the Twins.
  23. One more thing. In 2020 players only received about 40% of their salary, so that knocks another $15 or so off Sale's cost. The total is actually about $113.
  24. The only way we have Sale for 3 more seasons instead of 2 is if the vesting option is triggered.
