  1. Kenneth Gainwell, Eagles. With that name, the man had no choice but to be a running back.
  2. They're guessing 140 IP for Sale and 121 for Paxton. Wouldn't it be nice.
  3. But you and Old Red keep trading personal insults. You tell him to go be a Jays fan and things like that. All it does is keep the cycle of insults going.
  4. Old Red uses colorful names like Stinkin Winkin. You're more like a polite assassin - this guy shouldn't be playing so much, this guy should be DFA'd, that guy should be traded...
  5. Well, you're right, but he's certainly not alone in pointing out which players are sucking...
  6. Didn't I say that?
  7. Old Red's schtick is that he loves the Red Sox but hates Bloom.
  8. Sometimes you fall for the name. Jeff Bailey was a cool name. I thought Sam Travis was a can't-miss.
  9. I think the Devers extension was a good sign for the future of the franchise. A lot of people were convinced Devers would want out after seeing his friend Bogey go elsewhere, and for such an absurd sum. Obviously, they showed Raffy the money, but he must have had some comfort about staying in Boston to sign a career contract with no opt-out.
  10. Jeez cp, I didn't say it made him Albert Einstein.
  11. For all you fans of 18th century English literature. This year the Steelers also had a WR named Diontae Johnson, and a kicker named Chris Boswell.
  12. This is how bored I am today. But there are some funny football names out there. This year the Steelers had a rookie QB named Kenny Pickett, and a rookie WR named George Pickens. Pickens caught 4 TD passes from Pickett this year. I have no information on whether Pickett threw any Pick-Sixes when he was targeting Pickens.
  13. It's a silly analogy. Denny seems to honestly believe that Bloom is the man 100% responsible for losing Betts and Bogaerts. He seems to have no idea how a major league baseball team actually works.
  14. If the 2023 team finishes under .500, you think Bloom survives?
  15. And if the team bombs in 2023, Bloom might only be passing the baton to the next guy...
  16. True, but it's not like there's no risk in the early lock-up, either. Tatis Jr. comes to mind. Whatever you do, there's gonna be plenty of risk.
  17. When I first heard he signed for 6/120, I was surprised. It seemed like a large discount. When I found out about the opt-out it took some of the luster off it. I don't think any player has ever benefited more from an opt-out...
  18. One thing I'll always remember about Lester is that (reportedly), when asked about the 4/70 offer, he just smiled and said "They took a shot."
  19. Sure. And all we can do is speculate as to why they weren't. But I don't think it's very controversial to say that in a case like Betts, it's the owners calling the shots...
  20. It was Lester Redux. The similarities between the two situations were uncanny...
  21. Their PR has been horrible. Though to be fair, from a PR standpoint there's no good way to bid goodbye to players like Betts and Bogaerts.
  22. I think Bogaerts was going to be a free agent after 2019 without the extension.
  23. Yes it was a bad contract for Bogey?
  24. OK, let's say they were dead equal. How does that change the point that Story's offer was much higher?
  25. If it was bad, why did Bogaerts sign it? I think it was a good deal for both sides. The Sox got Bogey for 3 years at a reasonable rate, and he got the chance to cash in after 3 years, which he did. Do you really think this was a bad contract?
