  1. The 2025 Red Sox probably have a 20-30% chance of making the playoffs as of today, depending on which projection system you look at. That's not really winning the lottery stuff.
  2. I honestly don't get why it's such a terrible song. The words are icky but it's a catchy tune.
  3. Yes, but at the start of the season he was dealing with rust after his 2024 season was cut short, and he missed a lot of 2025 spring training.
  4. Your realism comes with a side order of Yankee fan bias.
  5. 23 Ks in his first 14 games with the Giants is really concerning - for Giants fans.
  6. That song probably wouldn't be hated so much if it wasn't by the former members of a legendary psychedelic band.
  7. I thought you were a WAR guy. That's what you used when you were talking about Ellsbury's contract.
  8. Averages are useful but only if you have sufficient sample sizes and adjustment for outliers - which are two problems with your Gates example. 😉
  9. Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree. I think history will show that this was a guy who shot his way out of town, and the Sox are going to benefit from having that $250 million obligation off the books.
  10. My gut feeling is the Giants are not going to be happy at all.
  11. I know. Still, it's better than him getting off to a rocking start. Giants are 4-9 since the trade, with 42 runs scored, 3.23 per game.
  12. He has really stepped up his game.
  13. .670 OPS and 21 Ks in 13 games.
  14. Well, if they let Bregman go they just get worse. Plus a lot can change in a year in this game. Anyway, my call is they don't trade Bregman even if they're selling. We'll see what happens.
  15. Sorry, you're not going to convince me they didn't go cheap in 2024, especially after the 'full throttle' pronouncement. Why do you think 'full throttle' came to piss so many people off?
  16. Deja vu all over again. It's depressing if you dwell on it too much. Especially with a month to go before the deadline.
  17. With Bregman it's more about if the team wants to compete next year or not. If the Sox keep playing like crap the next few weeks it's pretty clear they should trade Chapman and the other expiring contracts.
  18. I'm starving for really good players, I know that much. With Devers gone, Bregman is the only real proven position player on the team.
  19. But even if they do it's only for one year, like Wacha, then it's bye-bye. That's all part of the cheap philosophy they were following. Hopefully they stay open to spending as the Crochet/Bregman/Buehler investments indicated they were this year.
  20. Depends if he comes back strong or not. If he does, opting out is a possibility, especially if he thinks the Sox are a trainwreck of a franchise. It's $40 mill but it's only 2 years, and he's an elite player. Hard to predict, really.
  21. Right, going cheap again had a lot to do with trading Sale. I've been saying that all along.
  22. No. I've never said anything like that. We needed an upgrade.
