  1. Our offense is fine, it's been a plus, better than expected really. It's the other side of the ball that's the concern.
  2. Maybe because they were #2 and #3 on the team in OPS?
  3. Are you talking about sign-stealing?
  4. NOBODY wanted these guys? That's not true. I was very much in favor in re-signing Eovaldi. Me and 5 Gloves are probably the 2 biggest Nate fanboys here.
  5. Not sure if you're the only one. But Scherzer got nailed earlier for this too, and as bzw said above, this was the second time for German after getting off with a warning the first time.
  6. Yankees cheating and winning against Jays. Just messing around with that, but it is kind of funny to see Judge caught looking at the base coach for the sign, and then German getting tossed for sticky fingers, but the Yankees winning both games anyway. Jays must be pissed.
  7. To this collection we added Kluber. Did Bloom really think this was a solid group?
  8. I don't think the Kike signing was a big deal. It's the run prevention that's a big deal. The 2023 Red Sox have to score 6 runs, on average, to win a game.
  9. The Sox seemed reluctant to sign any starters who cost real money this offseason...and so we ended up with Kluber.
  10. Chuck in the towel (again) if there's an early deficit (again)?
  11. All that plus our run differential makes us the definition of a mediocre team.
  12. Uh oh...looks like we're back in Rock 'Em Sock 'Em season.
  13. Unfortunately a shaky assumption. We just lost Schreiber.
  14. His health is the X factor of course. But a $34 million risk is not that big for a team with the Red Sox wealth. We've thrown away multiples of that before and got nothing for it. Admittedly I'm an Eovaldi fanboy.
  15. Kluber was kind of supposed to be a #2 starter though.
  16. The answer is there is no answer. He's great for 3 innings, thus he needs to be in the pen.
  17. He looks like a better investment than Kluber. I thought you had previously mentioned Wacha as a missed opportunity.
  18. Once again, it's just inexplicable and extremely frustrating that they didn't do more to address the rotation. And if we end the year out of the playoffs and giving up 5 runs a game, Bloom absolutely deserves to lose his job. Inexcusable, especially for a guy who was supposed to be bringing the Rays pitching savvy with him.
  19. It seems fair to say that Bloom hasn't exactly turned us into "Tampa Bay North" in the run prevention area...
  20. So after 42 games, we're scoring 5.40 per game and allowing 5.36 per game.
  21. And Eovaldi is for 2 years, Wacha for 4 years.
  22. One thing is indisputable, though: not one of our starting pitchers has done anything but horrendous with McGuire catching him. If you could drill down to collective starter ERA with McGuire catching, it would be a ghastly number.
  23. Post 3265 was just Denny's "closin' ain't easy" thing.
  24. I can't explain it, but I would definitely give Kluber another start or two with Wong.
  25. Probably so, but they weren't this bad before. And they do have better numbers with Wong. Kluber's was only one start with Wong, I realize that.
