  1. Bring him back and pay him anything. He's still a young man.
  2. Kike's numbers on FanGraphs are incredibly bad for sure. I certainly agree he shouldn't play SS any more.
  3. Why are you so sure about that? You don't think Bloom has a good shot at following in Cherington's footsteps? Cherington (arguably perhaps) did better in his 4 years.
  4. He does, but you can't say they're great ones. Reyes is a guy the A's didn't want.
  5. I would call this a very charitable interpretation, but we're all speculating.
  6. Most of us are trying to get Bloom fired. notin dances to the beat of a different drum, he's going after Cora instead...
  7. Some folks have suggested the reason they didn't spend more was to save some money for the trade deadline. That's kind of a sad joke, for obvious reasons. $16 million under the tax threshold - why so much? Maybe math isn't Chaim's strong suit?
  8. I get your point, but it's still weird they wouldn't spend a bit more on this team, especially the starting pitching. They went over the tax threshold last year, but dove back under it this year while other teams were spending big. There's stuff that just doesn't make sense. But it certainly might be more a case of confusion and ineptitude than not caring.
  9. Now just think what those numbers would look like with Eovaldi.
  10. "It's gonna be AWESOME...we'll get back to you on WHEN."
  11. It'll probably come up again.
  12. Yeah, I think we've reached the dead horse stage with this.
  13. Cora is saying the quiet part out loud a lot lately.
  14. And then there's MLB Gameday, which produces hilarious-but-disturbing images of little green balls inside the strike zone, and little red balls outside the strike zone.
  15. He was from Texas when we signed him after 2018, too.
  16. Bloom apparently likes the guy a lot too. Promised him we'd be way better this year to entice him to re-sign with us, or so the story goes.
  17. Other sports are using electronic officiating pretty extensively now too. As for a game decided by bad ball/strike calls, that's a tough one because it's hard to connect the bad calls directly to the outcome. But if I'm not mistaken, there was a bad call in Game 4 of the 2021 ALCS that might have tilted the game from the Red Sox to the Astros.
  18. Wacha and his agent may have been looking for way too much.
  19. There didn't seem to be any stampede to sign Kluber, either.
  20. The length of the deal - 2 freakin' guaranteed years!
  21. You can blame it on me. Another poster said something about nobody wanting Eovaldi back, and I knew it was untrue. Nobody ever said that.
  22. Yes, this is exactly why, to me, it made so little sense to invest no more than $10 million in the rotation this offseason.
  23. His price tag was steep for a DH, no one would argue otherwise. The Dodgers got him for a reasonable price, though.
  24. I don't like this argument. Using the same logic we should have hated the Devers extension. Just because the 2022 team went 78-84 doesn't mean everyone sucked. Bogaerts and Wacha were clearly not problems, so wanting them back does make some sense.
  25. Both could have been done, of course.
