  1. You make it sound like cake. 🙂 Just kidding. I agree it's mostly semantics.
  2. No such thing as a bad 1 year deal is very questionable. In some cases it just means it could have been worse. Corey Kluber comes to mind.
  3. 600 is a very arbitrary number. It's not unreasonable, but to give it any credibility you'd need to back it up with some data and examples.
  4. LOL 6-7 mashers to be able to compete. Nice baseball IQ Fred.
  5. Sox hitting does not continue to be suspect. Major league pitching continues to be tough to hit.
  6. Campbell is a pretty risky asset right now. There might be some teams interested in him, but only if their evaluators are absolutely in love with him. Not many would be willing to bet $50 million on a guy who bombed out of MLB fairly quickly and still reportedly has a lot of issues on both offense and defense.
  7. A lot of that is just randomness doing its thing.
  8. With Campbell it's still a 50 million-ish financial commitment, which is not small change for a franchise like the Twins. It's easy to say you can trade them later but that might not be so easy if they get injured or just don't perform. Risk is risk.
  9. Well, let's see. 2024 AL MVP Judge 144 RBI led majors 2024 NL MVP Ohtani 130 RBI led NL Your point is correct, but guys with the highest RBIs will generally still be found close to the top of the voting. It's just that the RBI are now seen as more of a product of the high OPS + some good fortune.
  10. OK, we get it! As moon says, this is typical random stuff in baseball and means next to nothing. All that matters is the total record.
  11. The bottom line is Story has made a hell of a comeback from a series of calamities and you can't ask for much more than he's been doing. Just need him to stay healthy.
  12. The system they've experimented with gives both teams 2 challenges per game, I think. There is indeed a reward/penalty thing, if you're right, you don't lose one of your allotted challenges and if you're wrong you do. I expect this is what we'll eventually see.
  13. A high BA with RISP (higher than actual BA) is generally chalked up to randomness. There's no such thing as an "RBI guy" as far as it being a special skill...
  14. I think they're using Bernardino as the opener tonight with Fitts to follow.
  15. Is it accurate to say he was brought in to be a cleanup hitter? Because that's where they slotted him, except when he was sucking and they moved him south.
  16. I'm befuddled as to how there's much difference between an "RBI guy" and a "power bat". I would suggest that "RBI guy" is kind of a problematic term. I thought Talksox intelligentsia has established that RBI is a team stat...
  17. You said Campbell started the year hitting at the top of the order. The facts say otherwise. Can you please check the facts before you post?
  18. Most things that Cora and the team do make sense to me. Sometimes you just have to think about them or poke into the numbers a bit.
  19. He missed a lot of time, they're obviously hoping that after some reps he gets back to a 115 OPS+ or so. He sits against lefties. If he stays cold another week or two you may see a change.
  20. This is what happens when you have a hot take that belongs on a game thread and start a new thread with it instead.
  21. I find you're not so quick to "reserve judgement" when the team is going crappy. 😄
  22. Is that a criticism of Breslow? 😉 Anthony's contract does include a bunch of "accelerators" which could reportedly increase the value by up to a hundred mill.
