  1. Except Priester is going to get the voodoo doll treatment. 😊
  2. IMHO the best part of "these go to eleven" is Rob Reiner earnestly questioning why they couldn't just make ten louder, and Christopher Guest staring at him blankly.
  3. The Priester trade brings to mind the classic line from Spinal Tap: "There's such a fine line between clever and stupid."
  4. The Criswell thing is kind of funny and kind of symptomatic of modern baseball. You'd think after a great start like the one against Houston a guy would get another look, but the analytics say there was a lot of luck involved and back on the shuttle he goes, to return when the next emergency strikes.
  5. Yeah, I think I'll just keep rooting for Buehler to pick it up a bit...
  6. 1 PA and 1 BB = 0.1 WAR!
  7. Cleveland and KC both won, so they moved up on us If the season ended last night we'd be tied with NYY and SEA for the Wild Card spots, and 3 clear of CLE.
  8. How they approach this winter might be impacted by whether they make the playoffs this year or not.
  9. No harm done here, hopefully. I think sometimes we have to allow for the fact that an internet message board can be a very awkward form of communication. 🙂
  10. They were 17-7 in July averaging 5.54 runs per game. 9-6 in August averaging 5.4 runs per game. I mean, what do you want? We'd all love them to play .750 ball, but that's not realistic. Some guys are slumping, yes, but obviously that's being offset by some guys who are hot. That's just the way baseball is. It's not football where the Patriots with Brady literally could play .750 ball. At the MLB level, baseball is an erratic game by its nature.
  11. I happen to agree that this particular discussion is pointless because it's based on a massive amount of speculation. Just expressing a philosophical view that pointless speculation isn't really an issue on a baseball forum. Didn't mean it as an attack or anything, sorry if it came off that way.
  12. Again, the Sox are 4th in MLB in runs scored per game. You seem to think the other teams are the '27 Yankees.
  13. Duran is T21 in MLB in total bases with 221. Story had an 870 OPS in July and is at 841 in August. Maybe you need to get your eyes checked.
  14. The Sox are 4th in runs scored per game. You seem to give too much credit to the other teams. Most of them have issues too.
  15. It seems you're not quite as well informed as you think. You completely left out 2024. Mookie played more shortstop than outfield in 2024 and his hitting was just fine when he played there. SS 280 PA 308/407/500 RF 179 PA 273/324/516
  16. Maybe the thread shouldn't have been titled so conclusively. But there's nothing wrong with pointing out some of Priester's "under the hood" numbers or digging into the prospects we got back.
  17. Okay, but so what? There's no point in any discussion that occurs on this forum. And much of what gets talked about here is speculation. You talked about how it would be a great idea to trade Chapman. That was speculation.
  18. A lot of people still haven't moved on from Mookie Betts...or Babe Ruth. Are you suggesting that Red Sox fans have short memories? We know there would be some pretty lively discussion about this if the Sox were sucking and Devers was raking. Seems like you're shooting the messenger here.
  19. Whitlock had been on a pretty good roll prior to that. Nobody can put up an endless string of zeroes.
  20. The trade was a big deal. A lot of people were pissed about it and thought it was a big mistake. Some thought it was going to doom our season. I have no qualms about posting on it now and then. That was my first post on it in August. If that makes me obsessed, so be it.
