    Just a couple of quibbles on this. Even if Pedroia does only hit .250 next year it doesn't necessarily mean they missed an opportunity to move him while he was declining. For one thing, he would still be a well-above-average second baseman, when you factor in his defence. Also one .250 season wouldn't necessarily mean he was cooked. It could just be an off-season. Ortiz looked to have bottomed out in 2009 hitting .238. This year he's hitting .316.

    Trading Pedroia is definitely one of the worst suggestions I've heard.

    I don't know how much to fault Valentine for the mess. But the team is playing horrible baseball in just about every department, beating themselves in some of these games. They gave him that little vote of confidence and they've lost 3 in a row since? Not a good omen for Bobby.

    Yeah, believe me I understand what you're saying. I'm just getting a feeling that this team is quitting, and the FO may have to do it even if just to give the impression they're aware that this isn't really acceptable to the fans of Boston...

    I think I'd like to get rid of McClure too. I have no idea how much of the suckfest he's responsible for, but he ain't exactly performing magic, as far as I can see.

    Here it is is August 8, and aside from Morales who has only started 6 games, we don't have a single starter with an ERA lower than 4.48. That's insane.

    That looks suspiciously like this year's rotation, the one with the hefty ERA.
