  1. He was actually disagreeing with mvp that time LOL I think what notin and I have in common is that we just can't let something go the way normal people would LOL
  2. And the "couldn't count on him" argument drives me batty. I mean, I'd argue that the Red Sox really had no reason to "count on" any of Giolito, Houck, Crawford, Bello, Pivetta or Whitlock to have a good season. Every single one of those guys had issues and question marks of some sort.
  3. That explanation still doesn't make sense to me. I'll just never understand why trading a starting pitcher made a lot of sense for the Red Sox because they were so thin in starting pitching. We do know the Red Sox suck at Plan B's though, I'll ready concede that point.
  4. Abreu does look like an excellent trade candidate and should bring back something useful. I think they should probably hold into DHam with all the question marks in our middle infield scenarios.
  5. Yes, 5Gloves is right, Baltimore and the Yanks both have serious closer issues.
  6. Dominguez has already supplanted Kimbrel as the O's closer.
  7. I don't think there's any chance those 3 get you back 2 good late inning relievers. Late inning relievers are a pretty valuable commodity.
  8. Brez was their man.
  9. Trevor was 4 for 5 for the WooSox last night!
  10. I'll say. 31-38 with a -46 run differential. Hard to believe, really. But we must remember that even if the team sucks to an embarrassing degree, fans always get the Fenway Experience. And there are affordable tickets for students.
  11. The Red Sox have lost 28 of their last 45. They just flat out suck in every area right now. Martin and Jansen pitching like crap was the icing on the cake. The White Sox have a shot at winning this series.
  12. I think just about anything is possible in this series.
  13. Appreciate the effort that went into this post, but a couple of the statements here really require a rebuttal. Why would you say "they had no reason to expect Sale to play again at all"? He was active at the end of the season and he obviously passed all his medicals. So what sense can that statement possibly make? And "the premise that Atlanta clearly saw this comeback borders somewhere between pessimism and ridiculousness"? Atlanta clearly felt there was a reasonable chance Sale would be a worthwhile addition or they wouldn't have risked $21 million and given up a prospect for him. That's the only reasonable way to characterize it. It seems like you need to resort to hyperbole to convince yourself of the validity of your points.
  14. When I click on it I get those 3 plus: Hide Split Delete Recommend See if you can scroll down the list further.
  15. Plus the dubious behavior.
  16. I think this has been covered this many times. Yes, they wanted to sign Giolito because they needed an innings eater. That's a given. Breslow also had some other moves he obviously wanted to make. In order to make it all fit in the budget they had to cut somewhere. The Sale trade was a $10 million cut. Plus you could say it saved some money to get a second baseman. What about this is not clear?
  17. Yes, I think Brez got hamstrung by the budget. I also think they basically lied to him when they hired him and told him he was going to have a bigger budget. Peter Gammons said that was the case. And I think Breslow alluded to it in his speech about "now that I've gotten to know the organization's objectives a little better blah blah blah"
  18. $10 mill seems to matter plenty to Henry these days.
  19. So last night, Imanaga* tossed 7 no-hit innings and Eovaldi** beat the Yankees again. *2024 Interest Kings reported serious interest ** 2023 Interest Kings reported serious interest
  20. I don't know man. You could be right but I'm not convinced all the confusion and ineptitude was Bloom's doing. In 2022 the Sox made kind of a big deal out of telling Bogaerts they weren't going to trade him. If Henry wanted Bloom to sell, why the hell did they do that? Breslow might get a pass for this year's disasters, but it's going to be a short honeymoon, I think.
  21. I don't disagree, but it was Henry who hired him and I think it was Henry who dictated Bloom's general approach. If we agree that Breslow was hindered this year by the budget and lack of interest in winning, I don't think it's a stretch that Bloom was similarly hindered.
  22. Not totally implausible, but if I'm Seattle I'm looking at signing a bat rather than paying Yoshida 18 per for 3 more years.
  23. I'm not sure it is Bloom's mess. I think it just might be Henry's mess.
  24. Every negative scenario is on the table, I'd say. We're probably only a game or two away from Devers being shut down for the season, with more white flags to follow.
  25. Our run differential has gone into the red at -5. The 2024 team has a great shot at being worse by some metrics than the 2022 and 2023 teams. That's going to be really hard for Sam to put a positive spin on.
