  1. Devers had a .709 OPS in August and has a .480 OPS in September with 1 RBI. He's playing hurt, obviously. Not sure he should be playing at all. Then again, hardly anyone else is hitting, either.
  2. Yes. Excellent analysis of things Cora did that postseason.
  3. An analysis of ticket sales might be interesting.
  4. I like Cora a lot and I think he's probably a better manager than Farrell. I also understand that 3 straight seasons of mediocrity and August collapses put the hot lights on Cora a bit. It's my opinion that ownership and the front office are the ones responsible for the mediocrity. I think the cases where a manager really comes into question are where the team has clearly fallen short of expectations. I don't think the 2022-2024 teams have done that. Realistic expectations should have very modest based on our rosters.
  5. Just the way Manfred likes it. And it puts a few more dollars in Henry's pocket.
  6. Right, as you have said, they've already tried to get him to be more selective, but he is who he is. Going to Worcester to face lesser pitching won't do anything but inflate his numbers. As he is he's a plus player.
  7. Every one of our games is a coin flip. If we were better than a .500 team, we would have shown it long before this.
  8. They don't spend enough and when they do spend, they make really bad picks. (I'm excluding Devers, that was a "retention expenditure".) It's that combination that has been sinking us since Henry's madness came on in 2019.
  9. The most likely scenario for dispatching Yoshida is a good old-fashioned straight salary dump where the Sox pay about half his salary and get back a minor prospect or two.
  10. As you can see Fred, no one here agrees with you. If you can't find anyone who agrees with you in the slightest, it probably means you're wrong. Especially since vegasbob and Tedballgame are the diametric opposite of bonnetheads. Of course I fully realize this will only inspire you to even more posts about Rafaela's K zone recognition, because that's how you roll.
  11. Well, this thread stayed on topic for 1.5 posts. 😁
  12. Looks pretty hopeless. 7 games in NY and TB before we get to play Minny. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the team's competitive fire, as they showed again last night. Not their fault they got shafted by ownership's tightfistedness and some really bad/unlucky moves by Breslow. I'm still hoping for the team every game, but if we miss the playoffs we know where the blame lies.
  13. Good story, thanks. Hamilton really surprised with his pop this year. Bummer he';s injured right now.
  14. "The bulk of them" is a tad excessive.
  15. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to put in an application for one of the new positions opening up for associate assistant vice presidents.
  16. The other problem is Henry only gives his CBOs 4 years, so he only has 3 left. Sorry Brock, I am a rather skeptical voice on Red Sox leadership these days. 🙂
  17. Maybe after he shows he can still pitch...
  18. There's plenty to be optimistic about, but I think we also have some reason to be skeptical or nervous about the guys who are running the team, based on some of the decisions we've seen the last few years.
  19. Hendriks and Sale are almost exactly the same age, too.
  20. .500 teams gonna .500. Every game a flip of the coin.
  21. Yes, there are three names, that's not the issue.
  22. Three instead of two = Freudian slip?
