  1. Good catch...I was going to mention old Curt there, my bad.
  2. Speaking of injuries to pitchers, Brandon Morrow of the Jays has been on the shelf for a while with a sore forearm and they have finally diagnosed it. He has an 'entrapped radial nerve' and will miss the rest of the season. An entrapped radial nerve-Jeezus.
  3. Welcome. In answer to your question, we had two guys in 2004 who did put their careers on the line to get us to a title-Schilling and Foulke. And God bless them for it. But they were already near the end of their careers. I don't think too many people actually want Buchholz to risk his career this year. It's a debate that will rage on a while. I see that Globe columnist Chad Finn has a column about it with a headline that Buchholz is being smart, not soft.
  4. Oh well, full marks for the positivity, Pal.
  5. Right now a Rays-Dodgers WS seems like a possibility.
  6. I guess Middlebrooks and a prospect for Peavy and Crain makes as much sense as anything we could do right now.
  7. Very legit concerns, especially since we could be out of first place tonight.
  8. A-Hole is doing his best to leave a legacy as the biggest scumbag in the history of the game. What a POS! What a doucheweasel.
  9. I think for big right handed bats behind Ortiz we're going to have to live with Naps and Gomes. Which hopefully will not be a bad thing at all.
  10. Girardi is doing too good of a job this year. Look at what Valentine did for us last year. He blew things up all by himself.
  11. Attaboy, A-Hole! Fight the good fight.
  12. In his last 9.1 IP he's given up 16 hits and 10 walks.
  13. Almost all good tonight though. We beat the Rays, the Orioles lost, and if the Yankees have to win it might as well be against the Rangers.
  14. Cecil was outstanding most of the year but has been really bad lately. Maybe wearing down.
  15. Wow. You can take Joe out of Minny, but you can't take the MFY choke out of Joe.
  16. Orioles lose 3-2. They had the tying run at third in the 9th with no outs and Davis up and couldn't score.
  17. I think Hanrahan had some warning signs too. Anyway this is all just quibbling. I think Cherington did an outstanding job this offseason.
  18. He now represents potentially outstanding value to us in the short term. But for another team there's too much uncertainty and too little long term potential to give up much to acquire him.
  19. Uehara was a great signing. But to be fair, Ben also acquired Bailey and Hanrahan and paid them a pretty good chunk of change for nothing.
  20. I was joking with that comment. Koji is definitely better right now and I hope he keeps it up. But it's his 10th save as a Red Sox. I guess Papelbon has turned into one of these polarizing things where you're on one side or the other with no middle ground.
  21. When Koji does this for 6 years we'll talk.
  22. Wow, Tazawa and Uehara were their old magical selves tonight.
  23. Remember that 4-run lead Alex Wilson coughed up not that long ago?
  24. The Jays are playing extraordinarily wretched baseball. Leading 8-3 after the 6th inning tonight and now trailing 10-8.
