  1. I'm not freaking about the Rays but they're not to be taken lightly IMO. Price missed a month and a half, in his first 2 starts since returning he gave up 1 run in 16 innings. Archer the punk has been pitching pretty well.
  2. I think 'cruise' is a little wishful. The Rays are only 3.5 back and have a very good chance to be closer than that at the break, as they're at home to the Astros for the next three.
  3. Doubront, Lackey and Dempster have been our saviors with Buchholz down and Lester scuffling.
  4. Gotta love the back to back sac flies. I think Salty had the most productive out you can possibly have (with no errors), moving runners up a total of 3 bases and contributing to 2 runs.
  5. Huh? What season do you mean? His first full season was 2009. Looks more like he's improving as he approaches his prime years.
  6. LOL he seems like the LCD fan to me...spouting off in reactionary fashion...seeing things differently today than he did yesterday.
  7. Ortiz is a good hitter.
  8. Good job by Breslow. 37 pitches, though, yikes...probably won't be seeing him the next 2 games.
  9. Seems like moving the fences in paid off for the Mariners.
  10. But on the dark side, 5 of those innings might have to come from the bullpen.
  11. What the hell is a #1 anyway?
  12. Hopefully this won't just be Chapter 4 of "When Things Go to s***, They Really Go to s***".
  13. Our starting pitching has been a lot better than expected so far this year. But anybody who came into the season thinking there were 2 #1's on a staff where the top ERA last year was 4.56, was not grounded in reality. I seriously doubt that half the board said this though.
  14. Why not just ask the person who said it.
  15. Miller's out for the year and Ellsbury and Victorino are both day-to-day. Beautiful.
  16. I think we need a good reliever from somewhere. Our bullpen is on thin ice right now.
  17. I sort of hate to bring this up again, but what if the Phillies were mainly interested in unloading Papelbon's contract and willing to take a mid-tier prospect only.
  18. You plunk Trout if you're an Alex Wilson type. I'm not convinced that a 4-run lead vs. the Angels, with the guys they had coming up, is mop-up. Farrell gave Wilson the opportunity to show if he could be relied on in that situation and he f***ed it up royally. Really too bad when Bailey did such a good job.
  19. To me the obvious question about last night's game is, why not Tazawa for the 9th inning? I assume the answer is that Farrell saw it as opportunity to rest both Uehara and Tazawa. But is a 4-run lead in the 9th really a 'safe' lead, even though it's not a 'save' situation? Debatable I guess. One thing I do know is that Francona used to use Papelbon quite a bit in the same situation. He wasn't much more comfortable with a 4-run lead than he was with a 3-run lead. You get a couple of guys on quick and suddenly things are dicey and you're scrambling to get your closer ready.
  20. Are Sox players like Salty really any more gassed than comparable players on other teams, or does it just seem that way because we see our players every day? Wieters has played more than Salty. All-Star break is coming up soon.
  21. Like I say, they don't go away.
  22. Also, he looks like he is capable of pushing his numbers to healthy levels by the end of the year. If Ellsbury ends up with an OPS of .825 or higher, with all those steals, he should have no problem getting at least $100 million. Recency counts for a lot with many GM's looking to make a splash.
  23. The Twins' terrible record against the Yankees goes hand in hand with their terrible postseason record, a lot of which is also against the Yankees. Bottom line is, I'm sick and tired of the Twins getting bulldozed by the Yankees every year.
  24. Sure, agreed. The thing that always amazed me about the Gagne deal, though, was that we had to give up 3 prospects to get one guy who was going to pitch about 20-25 innings for us.
