  1. That's wrong. Ortiz has always been a guy who wants to play. Check out the numbers.
  2. Well, we've played a few innings after the break and lost Bailey and Victorino so far.
  3. Gameday says that was a strike...close anyway.
  4. Yeah baby...nice start.
  5. Holy s***, this guy takes injury-prone to a new level.
  6. Snyder has won a game for us and lost a game for us so far.
  7. Who's going deep for the Sox off Pettitte tonight? Napoli? Gomes? Snyder LOL? Well, at least one of 'em I hope...
  8. Drew hasn't been that bad at all after April. He had a .771 OPS in May and a .791 OPS in June. Drew has 31 RBI in 232 AB. Young has 28 RBI in 333 AB. Young is a minimal upgrade over Drew at best.
  9. So it seems like there's 3 possible scenarios on Buchholz: 1) He's a pussy. 2) His injury is much more serious than originally thought. 3) Middle ground, he's not really being a pussy, the shoulder is still bothering him and he's worried that if he pitches today it's going to get worse. But it will get better soon.
  10. Young's OPS for 2012 was only .682. Any way you look at it the guy is aging out and a mediocre hitter at this point.
  11. Young's numbers for 2012-13 aren't better than Drew's. He's a lot more durable though.
  12. No doubt Buchholz seems to be the pitching version of Ellsbury. Tons of talent but a very frustrating amount of missed time.
  13. jung, these statements are an example of how over the top and all over the place your posts on this are. First of all, Buchholz is under the control of the Red Sox until 2017, which is 4+ years away, so it's a little early to be caring about what other GM's think. Secondly, Josh Johnson's injury-prone reputation didn't stop the Jays from making the big move for him. Thirdly, Johnson's current predicament is that his 2013 numbers are s*****, not that he's not on the field.
  14. Which means that A-Rod might play this year? Wouldn't that be crazy.
  15. Sure. But how do any of us know there wouldn't have been more danger by him coming back before this?
  16. I'm concerned about Buchholz, of course. But jung is saying things like 'Buch's season is down the drain'. To me he's overreacting.
  17. I think I might be able to dig up some more examples of pitchers missing a month+ during a season and coming back strong...how many do we need?
  18. David Price went on the DL after his May 15 start. At that point he had a 5.24 ERA and a .811 OPS against in 9 starts. He returned from the DL July 2. In his first 3 starts he has a 1.08 ERA and a .483 OPS against and has pitched 25 innings. Conclusion: a period of game inactivity of 6-7 weeks doesn't necessarily cause bad things to happen...
  19. I'm not dismissing anything. I wish he was pitching sooner than later. But my position is that a) we don't have enough information to judge, and ranting is useless.
  20. jung, calm down, man...this is just ranting.
  21. I doubt that the jerk population has actually increased much over the years. It's all about the information we are privy to, that's what has increased exponentially. I mean, before "Ball Four" came out I doubt too many people pictured Mickey Mantle leading his teammates on Peeping Tom excursions.
  22. Yes, that picture really goes for the jugular.
  23. ? Please explain.
