  1. Great job by Ellsbury cashing that run with his speed.
  2. In 2011 Lackey got 6.09 runs per game support, enabling him to post a 12-12 record with a 6.41 ERA. The lucky s*** evens out in this wacky game.
  3. It's his year to get the s*** support.
  4. Humanity needs cooperation and it needs competition. We're watching baseball because we want our team to f***ing WIN.
  5. It's almost September. Maybe they won't come down till next year.
  6. Sorry but I can't quite follow the logic. Seems to me if he's not reliable enough to set up he's not reliable enough to close either. I mean setup guys are often given clean innings to work with too.
  7. You'll have to elaborate. You're saying that if Maddon puts him in in the 7th inning, he'll just stand there in a catatonic state?
  8. Also check out the Boston Globe politics forum. If you want some wild and woolly action, that's the place. It's the Combat Zone of online forums.
  9. I agree.
  10. No? Look, if we picked up a guy and he had 11 HR and 33 RBI in 30 games, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be s***ing on him.
  11. Yeah the Angels could give the Rays a hard time. The Halos have had a terrible season, obviously, and they're out of it, but they still have talented players and now they have nothing to lose. Just the kind of team that can be a real pain in the ass.
  12. Last year it was cool. This year it just looks stupid. Funny how that works.
  13. Rodney is hurting the Rays big-time this year. Last night's blown save was his 8th of the year. And 7 of those have ended up as Rays losses. Last year Rodney only had 2 blown saves, both ending up as losses. So you could argue that the Rays have been 5 games worse because of their problems at closer. That'd put them 2.5 ahead instead of 2.5 behind. It'll be interesting to see if Maddon makes a move there.
  14. We call it September over here, Ben.
  15. Gonzalez's previous appearance was also in relief. A little strange. He's either not 100% or he's in Showalter's doghouse or something.
  16. Britton had 2 bad outings against the Yanks and hasn't pitched since Aug. 18. He needed some work.
  17. That, my friend, is very very sick.
  18. Seriously Gardenhire must have nightmares about being abused by guys in pinstripes.
  19. It's amazing that a guy with the name Taylor Teagarden would become a major league catcher.
  20. Pedroia's had 14 hits in the last 8 games though.
  21. 7 ribbies for Victorino. What a night for him.
  22. Let's go you s***** Angels!
  23. So you're saying going up against lights-out starters could give us problems. I agree, but I think that's a problem for just about every offense in history.
  24. Not sure I follow. If they are good at getting starters out of the game with high pitch counts in the regular season why wouldn't that continue in the postseason.
  25. Someday you're gonna have to show me your numbers on that. Generally speaking you only get to crush middle relief after you're knocked the starter out. Crushing middle relief is usually garbage time stuff like this.
