  1. The NFL has already paved the way for this. Their challenge system works pretty well and certainly hasn't affected popularity.
  2. Us older fans seem to place a lot more importance on a Sox player's performance against the Yanks. Over the years that has often been used by old-school type Sox fans as a measure of a Red Sox player's ability to perform under pressure or 'under the bright lights'. Younger fans don't buy into that stuff as much.
  3. That was a joke for 700hitter. I know that expression really pisses him off.
  4. Yanks aren't totally dead yet. Next 3 games Rays play Rangers, Guardians play Royals and Yanks play Jays. Yanks have 3 left with Rays. Other 6 games are SF and Houston.
  5. If the Sox don't re-sign Nap it's not inconceivable that the Yankees could be interested in him as DH/backup 1B. Nap's career line vs. NYY 342/457/651 Nap's career line vs. Bos 288/379/696 Signing Nap away from from Sox would be an excellent, spiteful PR move, pissing off their hated rivals, getting a player who murders them and also has great numbers vs. us. As for his cost, well, they did pay Youkilis $12 million to be a stopgap for A-Rod.
  6. I can guarantee one thing - the dollar total of paycheques issued to guys who aren't in the lineup is a record.
  7. The Yankees have 13 of them in their pigpen these days.
  8. If Hal Steinbrenner could get really mad, I bet he would be right now.
  9. Where are the Nava Hos? We need some female Sox fans to form a club with that name.
  10. The Yankees have really had the season from Hell this year with the injuries.
  11. Baltimore also won and the Rays are winning. Bad night for the Yanks. Texas is kind of collapsing too.
  12. Uehara is only 8 short of the record for consecutive batters retired.
  13. Nava put another good stroke on it, it just didn't get down fast enough...what can ya do...
  14. In 46 starts since coming back from the DL Drew has 7 HR and 31 RBI. Not bad for a shortstop hitting in the lower part of the order.
  15. Since Drew came back from that last DL stint he has been a big part of this offence.
  16. The Run Support Gods may be smiling on Lackey again.
  17. I think you have to forget about Ellsbury. John Henry even came out earlier this year and said he couldn't see them re-signing him. If that isn't a bad sign I don't know what is.
  18. Another stunning revelation from SoxSport. Though it doesn't touch your gem from a few days ago: "Dempster's WHIP is almost 1.5. That's a sign he's getting hit and walking guys." Are you even a real person?
  19. That bozo probably thinks he made a positive contribution to this. Bozos like that can convince themselves of anything.
  20. For better or worse, Ellsbury walking is a no-brainer.
  21. Like 'low risk high reward'.
