  1. Any of the posters here who have beards should post pictures of themselves.
  2. It's quite the irony that the guy who is carrying the Yankees right now is the same guy who got traded for the guy who should be suspended right now but isn't.
  3. 1978 was the worst for me. For one thing I just loved that team. Yaz, Lynn, Rice, Fisk, Dewey, Boomer, Eck, Tiant, Spaceman...what a team, but nothing to show for it. Also for me what made 1978 so crushing was that it was the end of the dream that had started in 1975. Lost the World Series in the 7th game that year but we still had a great team. 1976 just sucked but in 1977 we had another strong team and then in 1978 we added Eck and Torrez and got out to the big lead. Not to mention it was the MFY's who won it all in both 1977 and 1978. And after 1978 the great Sox team was quickly and stupidly dismantled.
  4. LOL you are good man. You and BTR are the two funniest posters I've read on any Red Sox forum.
  5. I think sending Peavy back out was not that big of a deal. I think we tend to amplify things when we play the Yankees. -Peavy had retired 8 of the previous 9 batters. -He had pitched a scoreless 6th with 2 K's, striking out Overbay to end it. -Peavy had reached 117 pitches 4 times already in 2013. Most importantly, I think the intention was for him to face only 2 batters, who happened to be the 8 and 9 hitters, before bringing in Thornton. Needless to say when things go sideways like they did it makes everybody question it.
  6. Stephen Drew. Well no, I don't really believe that. But I think I might be getting gay for the guy. Gotta love a shortstop who can hit rockets from the left side and deliver in the clutch.
  7. Now this time I give Fred his props.
  8. On August 24 the Sox were tied for the AL East lead. On September 7 they were 8.5 games ahead. Am I dreaming here?
  9. Napoli in first 3 games of this series: 7 for 12 3 BB 3 HR 8 RBI 5 runs
  10. If you read the fine print though, BJ recipients are required to pay all of BTR's travel and housing expenses.
  11. He's a Yankee Fan's Nightmare.
  12. This game can really make you bitter. I know.
  13. He'll probably be back for the 9th, think so?
  14. And vice versa, bullpens can make managers look like s***.
  15. It's strange that Britton hasn't pitched in the last week.
  16. Britton hasn't pitched since Aug. 31. Anybody know why?
  17. They're not destroyed yet?
  18. I think Joe is saving Hughes and Chamberlain for tomorrow.
  19. I have been watching the Sox play in Yankee Stadium for eons, and I can't remember ever seeing them crush so many balls deep into the left field stands like this.
  20. As far as pitch counts are concerned, it seems to me that a par score for a starter would be 15 pitches. Anything less than that and you're doing very well.
  21. I wonder if one of our hitters is going to get drilled on purpose before this series is over.
  22. Holy s***, this really is the 2006 Massacre Payback.
  23. No, you guys are wrong. Fred is a vital man, I guarantee it.
  24. How do you like facing these Red Sox so far, Mr. Huff?
  25. My money is on Fred still being able to get that done. He works out regularly, I know that.
