  1. I would really like Max to explain it himself. Also, Max was talking about the year 2019, so your "3 years later" only adds to my confusion LOL
  2. Bauer has 4 strikes against him: -The rough sex/assault thing. -The throwing the ball into the stands thing. -The old school right wing views on social media thing. -The sticky stuff controversy thing. He is literally a problem waiting to happen for any team that signs him. The Red Sox got blasted for signing Matt Dermody, who only had the social media strike against him.
  3. Man, you really don't bother to read sometimes. I said building the bullpen is crucial, just that it's not easy. I sure as hell didn't argue against upgrading it.
  4. I think Fulmer would qualify as a "bonus" if he can pitch effectively in 2025.
  5. Hendriks and Whitlock will be coming off serious injuries. Slaten looks like a great find, but he spent 1.5 months on the IL with an arm injury too. Breslow needs to make at least one, hopefully two, "proven commodity" type acquisition. Martin reportedly is interested in returning for one more year, so that should definitely be considered.
  6. I agree with both of you that building a strong bullpen is crucial. But as with so many things, it's easier said than done. Our 2 most reliable relievers the last 2 years were the guys we spent real money on. You have to spend to get "proven commodities". Otherwise you're in the same old boat of developing them yourself or somehow procuring them in creative ways - AKA throwing stuff at the wall - Cam Booser was a nice story for a little while. The Red Sox have procured and tried zillions of relievers the last few years, with predictably mixed and sometimes embarrassing results. Breslow did try to acquire a couple of relatively proven relievers at the deadline. How'd that work out? Just saying it's not as easy as it might sound.
  7. You've got Bello listed twice. One must be Pivetta.
  8. Max, you keep saying these things over and over. Now, do you have any links to the articles where you got this information from? I would especially like to see the one about DD wanting more money "to keep Mookie from the Dodgers".
  9. It's not going to happen, but if Brez did somehow swing a deal for Vlad, it wouldn't be unexciting.
  10. And I've always had a soft spot for guys who mash against the Yankees - career OPS of .904. And 1.022 against the Orioles! And .876 against the Rays.
  11. OTOH if Vlad has a manager he really likes he might really kill it. Vlad is an elite talent. I don't see him ever being in a Red Sox uniform, though. The cost will be prohibitive.
  12. My guess is it would depend on which team you're talking to. For a small market team that financial commitment might be a serious deterrent, depending on how much they like Rafaela.
  13. Nice work, Alexandra. I think my only serious disagreement is with Hamilton. FanGraphs gives him a WAR of 1.6 in about half a season's work, 5th best among Sox position players. Considering his minimum pay and the virtually nonexistent expectations, I'd have to give him a B+ myself.
  14. I hear that. I'm assuming that if they fulfill Hugh's wishes it means they really are serious and Brezzy will look after the other deficiencies as well.
  15. That's really *all* they need to do to at least get the hope train rolling again for fans like us.
  16. I don't really understand the talk of trading Casas. If this is how much patience we have with our prospects, it's not a great sign for the next few years.
  17. Yes, that is a refreshingly clear statement by Brez.
  18. So we shouldn't trade Mayer, agreed.
  19. Sorry, this mulberry bush is closed.
  20. Sale and Whitlock are totally different cases, as most players are. If you're into that kind of reductionism, fine, but don't try to lay it on me.
  21. Seems like an overstatement.
  22. In case there's any confusion, notin was replying to me there.
  23. Well, I'll go on record that I'm vehemently opposed to trading Story and I think there's a good chance he has a solid 2025.
