  1. There's nothing wrong with that at all in my books.
  2. A Clay start is its only special kind of event viewing. Will you be pleasantly surprised or sick to your stomach? The suspense is building.
  3. As sk7326 has already pointed out, the umps rely heavy on the catchers and their mitt placements to determine balls and strikes for them. That's why pitch-framing is now a measurable skill!
  4. LeBron is definitely in the conversation for best of all time now.
  5. Yeah yeah...you are just trying to keep steering this further away from the original debate because you had nothing.
  6. MJ averaged 33.4 points per game over his extensive playoff career. He was Crunch Time personified.
  7. I'm sticking with the facts on this one and you're engaging in what-ifs. I'm very comfortable with my position.
  8. Vazquez has an MLB OPS of .595. That's bad, but the average MLB catcher only has an OPS of .683. He doesn't have to improve that much to get to average.
  9. Yeah, Mike shouldn't have come back at the end of that year. My point would have been stronger.
  10. You are what your record says you are.
  11. So your answer is a question.
  12. My point is we're 39-30. What is yours?
  13. Also, I agree that Wright came out of nowhere, but so what? He's on the team. There's good luck and bad luck with player performance. We've had plenty of the bad kind too.
  14. Well, they're 31-24 in the games not started by Wright, so how does that figure?
  15. Yes, MJ did have a supporting cast, absolutely. But history speaks volumes: the 8 year stretch with MJ missing the 2 years in the middle: Ring Ring Ring Lost in 2nd round Lost in 2nd round Ring Ring Ring
  16. Fair enough. But a lot of times, especially at crunch time, the Bulls offense was get the ball to MJ and let him score, and he was able to do just that.
  17. Slash, the most-MJ like player besides MJ was Kobe, IMO, and he did pretty well in this later era you're talking about. MJ's 6 rings without a great supporting cast was pretty good work.
  18. Yeah these threads tend to veer off onto a completely different set of tracks sometimes...such are forums, I guess.
  19. So why do you say they're a .500 team?
  20. I understand the criticism, but the Legend of Wade Miley needs to be put to rest. He's just another stiff.
  21. What are you talking about with the lack of control stuff? Every pitch to Pedroia was around the plate. And as you said the pitch he struck out on was down the middle.
  22. He's looking a little better at the plate.
  23. This Gonzalez dude pitching for Chicago tonight is a guy we let go of and then passed on. I realize he isn't all that good or young, but he's plenty cheap and he does at least resemble a major league pitcher.
  24. You are really killing it in this thread.
