  1. He may not always hustle to first, but when he's on base he hustles as much as anyone.
  2. So what's so hard about being in the outfield running, catching and throwing? It's a game little boys can play, after all.
  3. You might as well say being an outfielder isn't a grind either. They just run around a little and make catches and throws.
  4. If the money is a wash I can't see the Padres biting. They'll be able to trade Shields somewhere for a prospect or two and get salary relief in the process.
  5. Jays are playing good ball. We need this win badly.
  6. Swihart is a very likely goner in a trade for a starter.
  7. I was just speaking hypothetically. I don't think a trade for Shields is a viable option because of his salary and our payroll situation.
  8. I'm thinking more in terms of the Padres dumping his salary in return for a good prospect, rather than a big transaction such as you're proposing.
  9. It's a grind if you have ongoing health issues with your feet and you are periodically fouling baseballs off them.
  10. Adding Shields would be adding another Porcello. A mid-rotation guy you're paying 19 million a year plus tax. Not really the answer.
  11. Miley is horrible this year. No great loss.
  12. The sky ain't falling but the pitching does suck pretty bad when you're scoring 7 runs and losing.
  13. So that's 3 times in 6 games the Sox have scored 7 or more runs and lost. This team is built way too much like the Sox teams of olden times, trying to outslug their opponents.
  14. That's luck at its finest.
  15. Hate to keep saying it, but swapping Lester and Lackey for Porcello and Kelly was a colossal pair of blunders.
  16. Warriors are one of those teams that can beat you in a lot of ways. They didn't go 73-9 for nothing.
  17. I understand your point of view.
  18. Personally I get a good feeling when they overturn a bad call. As sick as it might sound, I even appreciated it the other night when the Yankees had a call at first base overturned in their favor. Because the replay clearly showed the Jays runner was out.
  19. The luck factor is significant, obviously. But that doesn't really address what Palodios is saying.
  20. Hanley, do something tonight for our boy Station 13 would ya?
  21. 1. Holt replacing Pedroia would cost the team 2-3 wins. That hurts. 2. Holt is the one who is injured. And he's never played more than 129 games and people are always pointing out how his offense falls off a cliff when he plays too much. Holding him up as a solid replacement for Pedroia is bordering on the absurd.
  22. I don't think it was defensive miscues that resulted in the 9th inning runs by the Royals. The tying run in Game 1 was a home run. Anyway it's all just an academic debate.
  23. Agree 100%. You'd have to take that 14-15% error rate and parse it further to see the rate of truly egregious bad calls.
  24. Numbers don't lie.
