  1. Let it go man, seriously. Life's too short.
  2. He'll be very pricy I expect. You'd think the filthy rich Dodgers would be quite interested in retaining him.
  3. I thought they should have signed him too.
  4. At the moment it feels like the most exciting baseball of this season is behind us. Neither of today's games has been especially entertaining.
  5. I believe that FanGraphs calculates the dollar value per WAR based on actual free agent contracts. So I think what's going on is that the seemingly inflated dollar values results from so many free agent contracts being busts, which makes the guys that actually perform worth a ton.
  6. There's always some reasoning behind a deal.
  7. Cubs might be in deep trouble. Their offense is being shut down hard.
  8. You're right about the relationship between WAR and real dollars. Otherwise a guy with a 10 WAR is worth 75 million on the market.
  9. Personally I looked at it as a 5 year deal for 95 million. The extension was signed before he threw a pitch.
  10. Most people that bitch about the Lackey trade, including myself, are packaging it with letting Lester go. If we had Lester and Lackey in 2015 instead of Porcello and Kelly, it's very conceivable we would have made the playoffs. And as you know, when you're a Sox fan every season matters.
  11. The deal actually would have been more palatable if we had traded just for Kelly, or for Kelly plus something else we didn't have to pay much money for. Somebody in the Sox scouting department may have really sold them that Craig was going to come back strong.
  12. I think Dave Roberts has made a big difference with the attitude of this Dodgers team. They are playing like they are hungry to win.
  13. The Cubs have their hands full in this series. Dodgers are playing them very tough.
  14. The Guardians are very shorthanded in starting pitching. Bauer is an idiot, injuring himself by playing with a drone.
  15. And the Sox are the ones who ended up looking a bit foolish on the deal, especially for taking all that dead money on Craig. Not too often you're a seller at the deadline and end up being the one who throws away a pile of money.
  16. You can say that again.
  17. Guys on the game threads, and new poster georom who I know from the BDC forum.
  18. That's pretty pessimistic about a guy who hasn't had serious health issues before.
  19. Farrell took a beating for 'not doing more to get HFA'.
  20. Slash, this Cleveland team are the poster boys for your pitching = parades slogan.
  21. Yes, exactly.
  22. Do we really want players who far prefer to be all nice and cosy at home? I'd rather have the road warrior types.
  23. It's not a unique setup. Jed Hoyer is the Cubs' GM.
  24. We were clearly Top 5 this year. How many teams had a better run differential, other than the Cubs?
  25. Not really. It's more like we have a sizable group who won't be happy unless we go into 2017 as World Series favorites.
