  1. Dojji, in case you haven't noticed, buddy, we have no starting pitching depth, unless you count Henry Owens. moonslav's post above illustrates the need for #6 and #7 starters.
  2. Clay will probably celebrate by spending the next month smoking Acapulco Gold and playing video games.
  3. That was Lucchino too. Larry very bad man.
  4. That just doesn't make sense. It might if you go through and grade each move from 2005-2011, which is what I think you're doing. I think he should be judged primarily on the team's record, the title, the 2 ALCS appearances, the 4 playoff appearances, the average wins per season, and the state of the team and the farm when he left.
  5. Some of it is good fortune, but he has definitely achieved something monumental. No other executive in sports history can boast a similar achievement.
  6. Kimmi can hold a grudge too...she will never forgive Damon.
  7. I must say I enjoyed the jokes this year about Buchholz and Kelly being a couple of bastards.
  8. Ah well, good for him getting another 13 million. God help me, I still have a soft spot for the little bastard.
  9. Shaughnessy pointed out the obvious when he said that Maddon was saved from a Grady Little legacy.
  10. I do get your point. And I move that we all talk no more about the 'home field advantage' issue until next October at least.
  11. Rajai Davis gets the Dave Henderson award for his near-legendary home run.
  12. Buch's option is picked up.
  13. It's a done deal. mvp wins the sig bet with me.
  14. Maddon came so close to going down in history for the wrong reasons.
  15. Game winning RBI is not an official stat, although it was for the years 1980 to 1988. Under the definition that was used then, Zobrist did have the game winning RBI last night, because he put the Cubs ahead to stay (although they also needed Montero's RBI for the win, which is what you're getting at). It's the same basic principle used for crediting wins to pitchers.
  16. A number of pitchers were pushed a little past their limits this postseason. Kershaw, Kluber, Miller and Chapman were all very human in their last appearances.
  17. I tried to correct him, but he Mister Magoo'd it.
  18. You can say that again.
  19. http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/11/03/world-series-game-7-chicago-cubs-cleveland-Guardians It amazes me that an SI writer entrusted to write the big story on the game could make such a boneheaded factual error. Or maybe I'm just a stickler. Anyone who's interested, see how fast you spot the mistake.
  20. Lackey has won rings with 3 different teams. I wonder if anyone's done that before.
  21. Wow. We just saw a pretty historic game.
  22. Momentum can be stopped on a dime in these games.
