  1. You're backing your opinion up with NOTHING.
  2. There's one very compelling reason to have Mookie up first. It maximizes his plate appearances. How many plate appearances will you take away by moving him from first to fourth? The only other legitimate candidate for leadoff is Bogaerts. And you probably wouldn't bet a lot that he'll have a higher OBP than Mookie the rest of the way. Pedroia leads in OBP but his baserunning is horrible.
  3. Yeah, they might move him. If they do they'll have their reasons. They have all the same numbers as we do and I'm quite sure they study them in more depth than we do. I just think people should relax and stop moaning and groaning when it comes to the lineup.
  4. He's a few points out of being 2nd in OBP now. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.
  5. I think the team reviews all the numbers and other factors and knows what it's doing a lot more than the armchair wizards here LOL
  6. They moved him from third to first because the team was averaging 3.79 runs a game with him hitting third.
  7. What's interesting about that trade is that Chapman wasn't even needed in the regular season. Theo only wanted him for the postseason.
  8. Opt-out clauses are definitely not put in there in for the benefit of the team. In the case of Sabathia, the Yankees would have been better off if they let him exercise his. This demonstrates that due to all the vagaries of baseball the team might benefit from the opt-out clause-through luck, essentially.
  9. Both of the Drew brothers were what you might call 'polarizing figures' when they played for us.
  10. Betances is showing some regression in his numbers. His WHIP has gone up each year. This year he's given up 21 walks in 26 innings.
  11. Jeez, what a spoilsport.
  12. And ironically, the bullpen blows the game.
  13. 20 points is not a commanding lead when it comes to OPS.
  14. Yes, I said he was about to go on a tear after the first Minnesota game. To be honest it was half-joke and half-hunch.
  15. Personally, not much any more. At one time in my life a bunch of us used to go on a booze cruise every Canada Day. That was the best.
  16. Thanks Kimmi. Now I must ask, if Canadians are crazy, what does that make Americans?
  17. Thanks Kimmi, I'm glad someone noticed.
  18. You guys already have a strong outfield though.
  19. Good work Mr. Hop. It's Canada Day, but let's beat Toronto.
  20. I don't understand it either. From a Pollyanna perspective I can only hope this is the tipping point that makes Price realize he has to chill out. I don't think Eckersley would want this to become a thing because I assume he wants what's best for the team.
  21. Like I say, Farrell and the team studies the numbers more than we do and the team is scoring a lot more runs since they moved Mookie from third to first. If you want to be one of the armchair tinkerers who thinks they know better than the team suit yourself.
  22. I'd be thrilled as heck (in the short run) if we unloaded most of the rest of the farm for Donaldson, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.
  23. He's a multi-faceted player and that's the key.
  24. Did you not see the difference in team runs when he moved from third to first? I guarantee you Farrell and the team staff have analyzed a lot more numbers on this than any of us have.
  25. The bottom line on Manny: signing him was one of the key factors in transforming the team into championship contenders and it paid off in 2 titles.
