We can rattle on all we want about Hanley's option (and we will), but I'm quite sure the Sox FO and Cora have already discussed this at some length and have a sensible plan in place.
Obviously the best case scenario would be for HanRam to have a good season but not reach the vesting option. I just don't think Alex Cora should be expected to manage the team with one eye on that number if HanRam is going well.
I am also of the mind that if Hanley is having an excellent season, you forget the option and let the chips fall where they may. In a small window, every year is huge, and you have to take your shot when it's there.
Believe it or not, baseball has followed in the footsteps of golf with a lot of these new measurements. In golf they started tracking swing speed, ball speed and launch angle maybe 5 years ago.
To me it's not a question of being scared. But if you're not taking the Yankees seriously as a tough opponent this year I think you're kidding yourself.
On the topic of beanballs...
In the documentary about the Sox 1967 Impossible Dream Season, Yaz was talking about Jim Lonborg and what a tough guy he was. Yaz said Lonborg would come up to him before the game and ask him if there was anyone Yaz wanted him to throw at. And in those days the pitchers were often the ones who were retaliated against.
