  1. I disagree that DD doesn't get any hindsight criticism. Every GM gets it. DD has gotten it in particular for the Shaw-Thornburg trade.
  2. It probably will be altered now because of some of the bargain signings, yes.
  3. I think an argument can be made based on WAR that Moreland's contract was not a large overpay at the time. fWAR 2015 2.2 2016 0.4 2017 0.9 bWAR 2015 2.3 2016 0.7 2017 1.9 Even if you only project him as a 1 WAR player, that was supposedly worth 7-8 million on the free agent market at the time he was signed.
  4. MLBTR predicted Duda would get 1 year, $6 million.
  5. Thus Spake Zarathustra.
  6. mvp is referring to Pedroia's actual salary this year (not his AAV).
  7. But you posted CV's...you old trickster you.
  8. And Sandy is 5 for 14 this spring.
  9. I hate to say it but I consider you guys the favorites. I've got some voodoo dolls and pins ready for your starting pitchers, though.
  10. DFA both Sandy and Hanley, huh? Chill, man.
  11. But we've established that #3 hitter isn't that important.
  12. But who would want Hanley right now even for 'only' $11 million?
  13. As I said in the other thread, Swihart had a UZR/150 of +8.0 in LF.
  14. He had a UZR/150 of +8.0 in the OF. Not terrible at all.
  15. I understand how you feel. The roster rules can sometimes force teams to do things they don't really want to do. In some cases even do things that you might call cheating, like stashing a player who isn't really hurt on the DL. It's almost like income tax rules.
  16. We get it, moon, we really do.
  17. Doggone good, I like the sound of that.
  18. Holt was an excellent value in 2014 and 2015. Not so much since.
  19. It may work quite well at low paid Swiss Army Knife.
  20. Thank God fans don't run the team LOL
  21. He was respectable in 2016, and injured last year.
  22. Seems they're grooming him to be the Swiss Army Knife, but still see him doing some catching.
  23. This does help answer the question of why we haven't signed any dumpster dives yet.
  24. Ben was a quiet fellow. I think you'll be challenged to find very many meaty quotes from him about team-building. I think you're probably right, that he liked the long-term approach. I suspect he's more comfortable where he is now, in a more behind-the-scenes role.
  25. But he's catching in a lot of the spring training games.
