    Our offense at catcher is not an issue, because our run prevention has been tremendous and we have plenty of other guys who can hit. Also, Leon will not end up hitting .100 for the year.

    You can't be sure you'll be able to rest guys in September, if you're in a race you'll want the best team in there every game.

    Plenty of commentators and fans still buy into the importance of the W. The most obvious evidence of this comes when a starter is pulled in the 5th inning with a lead. A big deal is made of the fact that he can't get the win.

    I know that he still had enough in the tank to strike out Lowrie, a right-handed hitter with the best numbers on the team this year.

    But if he was gassed how did he strike out Lowrie? Managers will be making 'mistakes' like this as long as there is baseball. Sometimes it's just rolling the dice.

    Correct. This is what Cora said too - the fact that he looked good striking out Lowrie is what persuaded him to let Price face Davis.

    Cora's basically following the template Houston used last year. Peter Abraham's story on yesterday's game is a good one. He makes it pretty clear that like many fans he's going WTF about Betts, Hanley & Nunez remaining on the bench the whole game, but then he explains what Cora's trying to do.

    LOL the post you replied to over and over was a sarcastic one and part of a running argument. You can't just drop in here once in a while and start going off on other posters when you don't even know what they're saying.

    I'm pretty sure it wasn't about trying to get Price a W when it's a 1-1 game and the team's bats have gone cold. You could just as easily say he was increasing the chances of Price getting an L.
