    I know I'm somewhat of a DD apologist, but he inherited a team with no pitching and not a huge amount of payroll room thanks to the Pablo/Hanley contracts. So he had little choice to trade prospects for pitching, as far as I can see. The team wins 93, 93, and starts this year 25-9. He can't have done all that badly with his moves so far. The future might be a different story, of course.

    Maybe it's our crack medical examination unit that's at fault. They've had their issues long before DD came along.

    No offense but statements like this remind me why I have no use for fantasy leagues. You're 'pleased' because you 'have' him on a team that exists only in the gaming ether with millions of other imaginary teams.

    Yeah, we should never make another trade. They're a really bad idea, because you might actually be giving up something of value.

    Oh, I don't disagree. There are no easy answers. So much risk. Even signing Mookie Betts to a long-term deal, which we all want to happen, could backfire.

    Cora might sit him against lefty starters in hopes that will help get him going. I have the utmost confidence in Cora to handle the situation intelligently.

    Plus the Sox have the 6th best ERA in MLB this year and the 3rd best park-adjusted ERA.

    JBJ is a better hitter than his numbers so far. He'll never be a great hitter but he can contribute over the course of the season. I would never seriously consider benching him.

    I like great defensive plays too, but here's a reality check: JBJ as of now is a minus player. His bad offense is outweighing his good defense. One 'advantage' of the offensive side, you might say, is that you are guaranteed to get multiple opportunities to contribute every single game you start. On the defensive side, you are not guaranteed anything as far as non-routine plays in which you have a chance to really affect the outcome.

    What would be the point? Leon knows the pitching staff and he's been Porcello's exclusive catcher and Porcello has been our best pitcher.

    He pitched great his first 2 games. Then he got the tingles.
