  1. The premise is correct but we're still dealing with what moon would call a teeny-tiny sample size. End of thread.
  2. Even Nolan Ryan only struck the batter out 25% of the time.
  3. Don't you think the pitcher's goal in general is to make a really tough pitch to hit - the batter is either going to miss it or if he hits it it's going to be weak or glancing contact.
  4. I have never said the Moreland signing was a great one. I just didn't think it was a horrible one. He got a Chris Young contract to be a backup/insurance first baseman.
  5. As far as JDM is concerned, I suspect that the late start to spring training might have thrown him off a bit.
  6. It's true. Hitting and pitching at the MLB level are both highly specialized and difficult skills.
  7. Not a bad point...I'm sure in the Yanks case it wasn't because they ran out of money.
  8. It's in the same place as the Yankees' Greatest Bullpen of All Time - off to a slower start than expected. Such is baseball.
  9. I think it's time for me to start my thread about Baseball Philosophy - in which we seek explanations for WHY there is so much randomness in baseball, WHY hitters and pitchers have such hot and cold streaks etc.
  10. The economic disaster of HanRam's option vesting is being overstated a bit. Even if it happens, the $22 million comes back for the years 2020 and every year after that.
  11. Although he reached them last year and that was without being fully healthy. 50/50 proposition maybe.
  12. That's fine, but I think we can all agree that's there a huge difference between winning the division and making it to a wild card game. Some folks on this board don't even consider the wild card games to be the playoffs.
  13. Nope, matter of opinion, and a minority one, I would say.
  14. 2013 Koji, yes. That Koji was unbelievable.
  15. Yep, the words '6 years of team control' bring tears of profound, almost inexpressible joy to her eyes. (Just teasing ya, Kimmi.)
  16. Yes, I think it's time to start hoping for a healthy Hanley turning in one of those big seasons he has had. He looks like he's highly motivated but also having fun.
  17. Great comment by Remy on how Hanley wisely didn't try to pull it.
  18. Yes, you've already said this many times.
  19. He's just expressing his frustration about Swihart not playing more.
  20. With all the off days and Pomeranz due back he might not get another start.
  21. Yeah, many people say baseball is boring too.
  22. dgale is a very reasonable fellow. But there's no way it will be a smooth ride to winning the division. It's doable obviously but tough. A smooth ride to winning the wild card, perhaps.
