  1. Mookie's numbers are Stayin' Sick: 352/440/683 - 1123
  2. 19 days to go. Cashman is going to do something major, I have little doubt of that.
  3. I think what happened last night was, we have Mookie Betts.
  4. I only watched part of the game but I was fortunate enough to see that at-bat.
  5. So does this make Schilling's postseason numbers more impressive?
  6. He probably would have been an easy sign for what we gave Price don't you think? Scherzer's deal with the Nats equates to $190-195 million in present dollars because of the deferred money.
  7. Postseason sample sizes and dispersion are hugely problematic, I won't argue that. Although some pitchers, the Big 3 from the Braves, Pettitte and Schilling for example, accumulated some relatively large ones.
  8. So why'd you ask me about me LOL Some ballplayers also have 20 year careers. I think the point is you can't really apply one general rule to everything.
  9. I think we can agree on that.
  10. In my job, absolutely. Physical stuff, maybe not exactly. But the differences are not large at all. Let's not make 9 years sound like forever.
  11. Frankly it's still way too early to get excited. The Yankees still represent a formidable threat to us winning the division, especially if they add major pieces before the deadline.
  12. Beckett was 1 and 1 in that series.
  13. Yes, if you were going to use one day that would be silly. But if you looked at a guy's splits and he was bad every April it might be fair to conclude that he's a slow starter. And if you looked at Chris Sale's splits...well you know where that's going.
  14. But I don't really see the foundation to this argument. I don't think the fact that a sample is spread out necessarily diminishes its value.
  15. Absolutely, and Theo has likely made some bad moves with the Cubs as well. You just need the bad to be clearly outweighed by the good...
  16. And for extra points there's that rising from the ashes thing.
  17. This is it. The Dodger trade freed up a lot of money again, but then most of the money was wasted again.
  18. Sure, but if they make up your whole starting rotation, the short-term results might not be pretty, and they weren't that year.
  19. Dombrowski may have overpaid for Kimbrel. But look at what Ben went through in pursuit of a closer. Bailey, Hanrahan, Melancon...that was a lot of hard work and transactions and some money gone before finally something went right and Koji took over in mid-2013.
  20. Another example of a guy with wild variances in his numbers. Ben loved guys like that, I swear. He was kind of a riverboat gambler in his own way.
  21. Personally it made me shudder.
  22. Another question is how long it would take for Sale to cut up Colon's uniform.
  23. I didn't really start to seriously doubt Ben until I realized that we were going into 2015 with Porcello, Buch, Kelly, Miley and Masterson as the starting five.
