  1. 4-0 NYY in the first. Ugly days.
  2. Yeah, Pedroia has never cared that much about playing baseball.
  3. I think your math is a little iffy. He needed 302 more PA's and there are 87 games left.
  4. There's only so much DD can do. We need a bat, we need a 2B and we probably need a reliever. And as you know he doesn't have a lot to work with. But I'm sure he'll do something soon. I think JH will ultimately give the go-ahead to blow past the 237 million, penalties and all.
  5. That's true, but the oblique may still be bothering him.
  6. That was one depressing night at the ballparks.
  7. It's also possible that Hanley's agent has gotten a call or two but that Hanley wasn't interested in that particular team. He's going to collect 22 million whether he's playing or at home, so you can understand why he might not just jump at any opportunity.
  8. We need some realistic expectations here. I'll settle for Lowrie and a late-inning reliever, I guess.
  9. This has actually been a pretty good discussion.
  10. I could spin doctor some answers to this: 1) The last 24 games included 4 games each in Houston and Seattle! 1) Our offense started dipping in May, and Hanley was a big part of that! 2) Our offense took a hit when Mookie went on the DL and he doesn't appear to be back to 100% yet!
  11. JBJ's WAR is 0.2, so that must be coming from Beni's games in CF.
  12. I'm pretty sure DD will at least inquire about Jed Lowrie.
  13. A pretty high percentage of hits are on mistakes, aren't they? Or as they are now called in postgame interviews, pitches that 'grabbed a little bit too much plate'.
  14. Yes and no. The career W-L records of Ryan and Blyleven more than anything highlight that they pitched great for some very bad teams. Ryan's 1987 season (8-16, 2.76 ERA) is probably the all-time howler when it comes to W-L.
  15. It was Scott's first MLB game this year, but he has MLB experience and excellent numbers against lefties (.522 OPS). And he was pitching very well at Pawtucket.
  16. Scott was brought in to face the #9 hitter and then 2 lefty hitters. Cora said 'these are the situations he's here for' or similar words. Scott did a lousy job, obviously. Maybe you could chalk it up as a managerial mistake, but there was some reasoning behind it.
  17. Sale got better than average run support in 2017. This is good old buzzard luck/randomness at its finest. But it does get a little frustrating, that's for sure.
  18. This post makes no sense. Sale had a no-decision whoever Cora brought in.
  19. Of all people, Dave D. is the last one who would do this. One of the big knocks on his Detroit years and the lack of playoff success was his bullpens.
  20. Yes, they were probably all lying.
  21. 3 periods. Like notin finishes just about every one of his posts...
