  1. $40 million is a backbreaker. I don't think we'll see anyone make $40 million. Maybe $35 million though.
  2. A very very good argument for that, I would say.
  3. FWIW Mookie said he's going to be watching what happens this offseason with Machado and Harper with a lot of interest.
  4. Uh uh. If Theo does it, it has to be done.
  5. But Mookie Betts is an extremely rare talent. How many players put up about 30 WAR in their first 4 seasons?
  6. It's a fact that the 2 bullpens are very close statistically. Britton might change that a bit, we'll see. But Green and Holder have been struggling, Warren is gone, Kahnle is injured, and DRob is not what he once was.
  7. ??? June: Vazquez 16 starts Leon 11 starts
  8. The economic landscape is changing a bit too. It looks like the cheap young talent ain't gonna stay cheap quite as long, when you see Mookie making $10.5 million in his 4th year and 2 more arb years to go with substantial raises.
  9. If Pomeranz pitches well his next time out and Johnson doesn't, 'the narrative will change' LOL
  10. Oh yeah, he should have avoided J D Martinez like the plague.
  11. And Kinsler might be right behind.
  12. They also traded Adam Warren - to the Mariners no less. Some Yankee fans are really shaking their heads over that one.
  13. sk and Kimmi arguing team building philosophy: a battle royale for the ages.
  14. So how much would you pay a player who is worth $12 million per FanGraphs?
  15. Pomeranz may be working his way back to health. It's been known to happen.
  16. Cora actually said Jackie made a base running mistake but then made a great slide. He gave credit but did not gloss over the mistake.
  17. Yes, and Kimbrel was worth 26.3 million.
  18. As I said, Johnson's ERA was 5.33 at the end of May. What did you think of him then?
  19. Yes, it's quite a lesson in how stuff can be spun. Johnson was gritty, giving up 5 runs in 5. Pomeranz was lucky, giving up 2 runs in 5.
  20. The Yankee bullpen is a tad overrated. Of course it doesn't help them that their starters are not going deep and piling the innings on the pen.
  21. The most remarkable thing about last night's game was that Mookie was 6 for 6 in getting on base, and it was barely mentioned.
  22. I agree, don't let up. Stomp on them while they're down and don't let them back up.
  23. Pomeranz's ERA actually did get better his last start. He's only pitched 46.2 innings. At the end of May, Brian Johnson's ERA was 5.33 and he was looking a little toasty himself. But the team stuck with him and it has paid off. The bottom line is, the team always has more patience and more informed decision-making than the fans. I trust them to do the right thing.
  24. The stuff being said about Boone is especially delightful.
  25. You're relentless on the undermarket contract. When will your fury be sated LOL
