    Of course it's not uncommon for some starters to have 1st inning problems because they're not quite into their rhythm yet or don't have the feel for their pitches yet or however you want to describe it...

    In Games 4/5/6 of the ALCS Foulke threw 100 pitches in 3 days. No wonder his arm wasn't quite the same after that.

    Good observation. He doesn't have elite speed but he's probably elite in every other aspect of fielding.

    The bases-loaded double by Beni last night was pretty sweet. He took a slider low in the zone and carved it into the left field corner. Eck talks about painting by pitchers. That was painting by a hitter.

    Bogey worked on his strength in the offseason and it's really showing. Thank God that recent HBP turned out not to be an issue.

    On the B-R Game Log page you just click on the left-hand side of the first game you want and the last game you want and it gives you the numbers for that stretch.

    All JBJ needs to do is muster an OPS of around .700, as he is now doing, and he is a solid component of a well-balanced team.

    I guess your point is that the protection effect occurs in some isolated instances, but not consistently. Sort of like really cheap condoms?

    Certainly the best trade in which no actual talent was acquired.

    Yes, it's hard to believe how many people forget we acquired Loney, De la Rosa, Webster, Sands and DeJesus all in that deal. (Obligatory mention of Miley and Holt spinoff trades...)

    The fact that almost everyone gets put on waivers in August isn't very interesting. But some of the talent that gets moved in August can be surprising, like Murphy and Adams. And of course our Punto trade with the Dodgers occurred in August 2012.
