  1. Can we still say that if they polish off the 4 game sweep of the O's tonight? They just swept 3 from the Jays quite easily too.
  2. Rays are now 41-24 in the Dump, 29-37 on the road. For whatever reason they are very hard to beat in this infernal shithole.
  3. Hamstrings can be tricky things.
  4. Beeks looked good yesterday, but let's not get carried away. Beeks with Rays - 27.2 IP 5.20 ERA Eovaldi with Sox - 28 IP 2.89 ERA And yes, I realize Beeks got off to a terrible start and Eovaldi got off to a crazy good start.
  5. I like 4 divisions total. Of course, with 30 teams total they need to either add 2 or subtract 2 to make 4 even divisions.
  6. To me it's utterly baffling how hard it is to score runs in this Godforsaken place. 9 games, and the most the Sox have scored in a single game is 4. That's nuts.
  7. One thing is for sure, this season has raised some serious concerns about teams not really trying that hard to win games. For example the Yankees are currently in a stretch of 13 games vs the Marlins, Orioles, White Sox and Tigers before going to play against an actual baseball team in Oakland. It's like the whole season hinges on how many cream puff games you have left vs. real games...
  8. What might be entertaining is a bench-clearing brawl in the funny unis.
  9. I just found out the Rays pitching coach is Kyle Snyder, who Sox fans may remember from his playing days, though not necessarily in a good way. Snyder pitched for the Sox from 2006 to 2008 as a starter and reliever, compiling a line of 6-8 with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. His career mark was 8-17 with a 5.57 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Showing once again, I guess, that you don't have to be good to coach good.
  10. The Theory of Relativity isn't the easy thing to grasp either, but you don't hear people calling Einstein a quack.
  11. The idea of Pedey ever contributing again is probably optimistic, but I'm down with it. At least he's feeling good.
  12. We've got rays to fry, and then marlins to fry. But seriously, good post Jackson.
  13. Eovaldi vs. Snell Well folks, we are staring at a virtual perfect storm of ugliness today. The Red Sox, the highest-scoring team in baseball, have scored a pitiful total of 25 runs in 9 games at the Dump this year - an average of 2.78 per game. To make matters worse, Blake Snell is the Rays' best starter (not that they have very many) and has owned us to the tune of 2 runs allowed in 19 innings for a 0.95 ERA. To add to the ugly factor just a bit, Blake Snell is...well, he's not exactly Tom Cruise, let's put it that way. We may really need some sort of reverse lock action today, especially with the Evil Ones expected to complete their 4-game sweep of the incredibly feeble Birds.
  14. But it's supposed to promote the game as something that's fun for the whole family!
  15. Which suggests that home UZR vs. road UZR might be interesting.
  16. Another ugly trend is the team's runs scored in games in the TropDump this year: 4 1 3 2 4 4 3 3 Total 24 in 8 games - 3.0 per game
  17. Plus the incidents that seemed so poorly handled and hung over the team like a black cloud.
  18. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. But I also think that the guys who reach MLB are exposed to new types of pressure that just don't exist at the lower levels. I believe that choking at the MLB level is very plausible. Those large egos can take some pretty heavy blows when a player fails to perform over a period of time or in a big moment. In the worst case scenario they can end up in a Rogues Gallery for all time with the likes of Bill Buckner and Calvin Schiraldi and Donnie Moore (citing 3 examples from just 1 postseason).
  19. The offense scored 24 runs in 4 games against the Wahoos - 17 in the last 2 games. And last night they had 13 hits and 3 walks, just didn't cash in enough. The offense is still in good shape. And you know Mookie is going to bust out again and somebody gotta pay.
  20. The Rays starter wasn't a starter.
  21. Dewey, a few pages ago you said you were exhausted with this topic. Now that was pretty funny.
  22. We scored 3 runs and our starter was terrible. Even if Cora had been Captain Hook with Velazquez I don't see how we win this game. Nope, can't see a shred of logic in your statement.
  23. Easy enough to figure out.
  24. DRob gives up the 2-run bomb.
