  1. I have no enthusiasm at all for Harper.
  2. Of course Mookie hasn't merely bounced back offensively this year, he has rocketed into the stratosphere. It might have all happened anyway, sure, there's really no way of knowing.
  3. Which all makes for good reading in the Yankee Fan Forum and the NY Post.
  4. You could be right. OTOH he's only 24 and the .889 OPS at Pawtucket is pretty impressive. May be some real potential there.
  5. You could always figure out WAR per game or per inning, too...
  6. Some might argue that you should be rewarded for showing up and playing.
  7. He should get no love for 50 games over .500?
  8. I get what you're saying, but it's just a hypothetical value - like I said, bare minimum major league level. That's why when you see a negative WAR, it is big-time sucking LOL
  9. I think replacement level is essentially defined as the caliber of a guy you would call up from AAA to replace an injured player. Bare minimum major league level.
  10. It's possible, of course, that some teams contacted him and he said no thanks. There wouldn't be much financial incentive for him, after all.
  11. You facetious devil.
  12. But even if you had a 100 mph fastball, if it was down the middle every time, a lot of major league hitters would tee off on it.
  13. A lot of it comes down to luck, Slash. Kapler used some relievers with some pretty lousy numbers and it just so happened they didn't give up any runs on this particular night. Tends to make your decisions look better.
  14. The coaching is the big X factor. If JD really did give Mookie some useful stuff with his swing and his approach, that would be pretty big in itself.
  15. I think it's been tried 4 times all year. For a pitcher of Kimbrel's caliber, going for a 4 out save should mean an extra 5 pitches or so. But as we have all seen, Kimbrel seems to have some sort of issue with 4 outs or 4 run leads and generally doesn't do very well with them.
  16. My only beefs with Manny were a handful of plays where he didn't give it full effort. Overall Manny was a joy.
  17. You're talking about players that everyone knows are having great seasons. But I also look at the WAR for players that I haven't seen play and don't really know much about.
  18. 2 different things though really. To me 'chasing wins' suggests managing like it was an elimination game from start to finish regardless of the score.
  19. Some of Manny's stuff was quite enjoyable. But some of it crossed the line too IMO
  20. Absolutely, it's not one of our major issues that we need to spend resources on.
  21. Some fans, like you, would be reasonable about it. Some, not so much.
  22. One thing's for sure, if we didn't sign JD we'd be cursing out DD pretty good these days.
  23. Dirt dog? No. Hot dog? Yes. Puig is a textbook example of a hot dog. I saw him do the same bat-flip thing on Monday night. He does stuff like that all the time. If he was white he wouldn't be treated differently. Lackey certainly didn't get a pass for his little routine of showing up his fielders.
  24. What exactly do you mean by telling us what we already know?
