  1. It does seem like one of Duran or Abreu should be traded. As much as I like Abreu 's power, Duran has been much more durable and that counts for a lot. But Duran is the one whose payday is coming quickest. Breslow has some big decisions to make.
  2. Go Jays, obviously. Dodgers-Phillies could be a good one. Brewers-Cubs and Mariners-Tigers, who knows, maybe they will feature the best baseball. Overall a pretty good rack of games and it gets started in just a few hours Brewers-Cubs leads off at 2 ET. Good old Toronto doesn't like games on weekend nights so both games start at 4 ET. Place your bets!
  3. His final numbers were fine but he seemed especially streaky this year. I have no regrets about trading him, but we do need to get another big bat somehow.
  4. Raffy played 163 games this year. His teams were 77-86 in those games. His final numbers look fine but something isn't right.
  5. Rafaela had a great season and any talk of trading him is absurd.
  6. The Yankees pitching shut us down pretty hard for 3 games. Can't really blame it on one guy not hitting.
  7. Congrats to the Yankees. Great pitching in this series. Thus ends a pretty good run we had against you guys.
  8. Craig had a pretty good year, but 2 rather egregious mistakes: 1) Thinking we had so much starting pitching depth that we could afford to trade Priester for prospects. 2) Thinking we had enough hitting after trading Devers.
  9. Our offense is not great w/o Anthony, that's for sure. We need Abreu to run into one tonight.
  10. Sure, I just think Bloom must have or should have known his D was bad.
  11. I like Alex Speier, I can tolerate Abraham, but overall it's not great.
  12. Comparing teams on a player-by-player basis has always seemed pretty pointless to me. Comparing total team stats and adjusting for in-season additions and subtractions-yes, that makes sense.
  13. Might not be fair to pin that on Renfroe, who is a guy who always keeps his bags packed.
  14. The Red Sox knocked the Yankees out in 2004, 2018 and 2021. Yeah, I'm kind of glad I cancelled my online subscription to the Globe. Very expensive and I really don't need to read any more of Dan's hackneyed columns.
  15. Many, many lefty hitters struggle bigly against lefty pitchers. For whatever reason it's the toughest matchup.
  16. The eternal conundrum of baseball - is our hitting this s**tty or is their pitching that good?
  17. And what Cora is saying makes perfect sense to me! The platoon strategy has been around a long, long time...I don't get why anyone is questioning why Cora is so fond of it. Lowe and Yoshida were beyond brutal against lefties this year.
  18. I get these hunches and I have a good hunch about Abreu tonight. Sometimes my hunches are FOS needless to say.
  19. Not with a lefty starting for the other team. With a lefty starting Abreu, Lowe and Yoshida are The Bench.
  20. Crochet did have some durability issues prior to 2024. Chapman is definitely a freak of nature.
  21. Masa has been hitting well lately, but only against righties I believe. His numbers against lefties the last 2 seasons are abominable.
  22. That was great, but Pedro of course also had his "Yankees are my daddy" moment. All good after 2004 though!
