  1. What Rose did was strictly on his own. What Cora did was participation in a group effort. Manfred decided to only discipline the higher-ups and give the players a free ride. Why? Because they were 'just following orders'? Or because it would have created such an incredible mess?
  2. In my opinion, Manfred is absolutely obligated to talk to Logan Morrison and ask him about these firsthand accounts he says he received about the Yankees and Dodgers. If Morrison tells him it was totally untrue, well, so be it. But Manfred has a big responsibility here to the sport in general. If other teams were doing it, everyone wants to know that and see them disciplined the same way. Get it all out there and do it now.
  3. Why not ban all the rest of the Houston and Boston personnel who participated in the schemes too, then?
  4. Nice to see the New York media doing its part.
  5. Houston needs a new manager too. So will the Mets if they dismiss Beltran.
  6. That was what LoMo said.
  7. Print the tickets.
  8. It didn't come up because Fiers didn't blow the whistle on the Astros until 2 years after the Sox hired Cora.
  9. Not unless jung is right that Manfred went out of his way to absolve the owners from any culpability.
  10. They can make whatever offer they want. It's up to Bloom to decide if it's acceptable.
  11. Yep, never a dull freaking moment. Even when times are good LOL
  12. Wut? The whole premise of this 'tipping your hand' crap is pretty dumb. If the Red Sox let other teams know David Price is available, it's pretty clear they're doing it to cut payroll, isn't it?
  13. He said he knows from firsthand accounts. Someone with firsthand knowledge allegedly told him this.
  14. All guys who get paid to criticize the team.
  15. Selig was castigated for 'looking the other way' on PED's for so long. Manfred could end up being regarded similarly. The juiced baseballs don't do much for his credibility.
  16. Look at the Dodgers trade in 2012. The Dodgers kind of knew we badly wanted to unload those contracts, but it worked out for us somehow...
  17. This is a big oversimplification though. Just because other teams knew the Sox were cutting payroll doesn't mean they're not going to make fair offers if they're really interested in the player. If they don't get the player they're interested in, what good does that do them? Plus the Red Sox are hardly the first time in the situation of trying to cut payroll or unload guys whose contracts are expiring. Teams do it every year.
  18. And isn't Manfred now obliged to provide the names of all the other players who participated in the sign stealing, so nobody ever hires them as managers?
  19. Manfred seems to have already answered that question. But he also outed Beltran as a cheater and liar. So he's f***ed anyway.
  20. Lots of buzz that the Mets have to fire Beltran now.
  21. Manfred knows he f***ed up not being proactive about the video stuff. And if any more teams get implicated, the fingers will start pointing at him too.
  22. They said that when Francona left too, IIRC
  23. Get ready with a new one for the next guy.
  24. Here's a new piece trying to drag the Yankees/Beltran into this with the comments Cora made after the London series. https://www.nj.com/yankees/2020/01/mlb-rumors-did-red-soxs-alex-cora-drop-hints-carlos-beltran-helped-yankees-cheat-in-2019.html
  25. That's not what Morrison said though.
