  1. Just about every possibility is on the table at the moment.
  2. Is that different from "questionable"?
  3. Devers? Thou art a madman.
  4. The Padres soaked him, no doubt. But by the same token, the Yanks soaked Theo for Chapman.
  5. I don't know, a year is pretty stiff in itself. And it's not like the punishment is going to be exactly in proportion to the severity of the offense. It's pretty arbitrary.
  6. You're itching for a fire sale.
  7. I know. Why would I think his salary is "plus $50 mill"?
  8. Trade simulator has him at plus $50 mill, no?
  9. Trading Mookie straight up for a prospect is the easiest way to re-set by far.
  10. And Betts and JBJ are the only ones who would be true rentals.
  11. I realize that. And I'm quite comfortable in saying the probability of Betts being traded is remote at this point.
  12. It ain't happening. JH has now gone out of his way to assure everyone that the priority is being competitive this year.
  13. That's a tenuous comparison.
  14. In any case, by now it should be obvious Mookie is staying put.
  15. If you want a re-set, calling up Rusney is the last thing you want. He'd tack on about 12 million to the payroll for tax purposes.
  16. If they don't get under $208 million before the season starts, it's pretty unlikely they can do it at the trade deadline. Cot's Contracts has us at $17.6 million over right now-and theirs is the lowest projection. Even trading both Mookie and JBJ at the deadline would only reduce our number by about $12.7 million.
  17. There are plenty of people who can walk around but have severe chronic pain. I don't think it's fair to make assumptions about what he feels like.
  18. Of course they did. And if the Sox put Betts and/or Price on the block it's pretty obvious the two things are connected.
  19. No, based on what Olney reported, it's because Bloom's ask was this: take Mookie and Price, give us top prospects and get no salary relief. So they weren't really trying to trade him unless somebody was crazy enough to do that deal.
  20. None of us have any idea what sort of pain or mobility issues he's been having.
  21. So how come Mookie isn't traded already?
  22. Agreed.
  23. This is just a total fallacy. Resetting the tax rate does not mean we can pay Mookie $400 million.
  24. Yeah, but the reason you're picking on Pedroia is that he got injured and can't play. There are many other pro athletes who make even more money than him. So is your rant aimed at all them too?
