  1. Can we do one for the Yankees for 2019 to see how much Beltran helped them?
  2. The reports are that other teams are reluctant to give up elite prospects for Mookie, which is understandable, because the other team only gets him for 1 year and has to pay him 27 million.
  3. You're asking the wrong guy, I'm afraid. I don't know jack about other team's prospects.
  4. In that case I'm rendered speechless.
  5. That's been done. I'd expect something more original.
  6. Me too. Maybe our new front office really thinks they can pull the wool over everyone's eyes.
  7. That doesn't make sense. Has to be more to it than that.
  8. Just about every possibility is on the table at the moment.
  9. Is that different from "questionable"?
  10. Devers? Thou art a madman.
  11. The Padres soaked him, no doubt. But by the same token, the Yanks soaked Theo for Chapman.
  12. I don't know, a year is pretty stiff in itself. And it's not like the punishment is going to be exactly in proportion to the severity of the offense. It's pretty arbitrary.
  13. You're itching for a fire sale.
  14. I know. Why would I think his salary is "plus $50 mill"?
  15. Trade simulator has him at plus $50 mill, no?
  16. Trading Mookie straight up for a prospect is the easiest way to re-set by far.
  17. And Betts and JBJ are the only ones who would be true rentals.
  18. I realize that. And I'm quite comfortable in saying the probability of Betts being traded is remote at this point.
  19. It ain't happening. JH has now gone out of his way to assure everyone that the priority is being competitive this year.
  20. That's a tenuous comparison.
  21. In any case, by now it should be obvious Mookie is staying put.
  22. If you want a re-set, calling up Rusney is the last thing you want. He'd tack on about 12 million to the payroll for tax purposes.
  23. If they don't get under $208 million before the season starts, it's pretty unlikely they can do it at the trade deadline. Cot's Contracts has us at $17.6 million over right now-and theirs is the lowest projection. Even trading both Mookie and JBJ at the deadline would only reduce our number by about $12.7 million.
  24. There are plenty of people who can walk around but have severe chronic pain. I don't think it's fair to make assumptions about what he feels like.
