  1. Of course they did. And if the Sox put Betts and/or Price on the block it's pretty obvious the two things are connected.
  2. No, based on what Olney reported, it's because Bloom's ask was this: take Mookie and Price, give us top prospects and get no salary relief. So they weren't really trying to trade him unless somebody was crazy enough to do that deal.
  3. None of us have any idea what sort of pain or mobility issues he's been having.
  4. So how come Mookie isn't traded already?
  5. Agreed.
  6. This is just a total fallacy. Resetting the tax rate does not mean we can pay Mookie $400 million.
  7. Yeah, but the reason you're picking on Pedroia is that he got injured and can't play. There are many other pro athletes who make even more money than him. So is your rant aimed at all them too?
  8. If you call 'sitting on my ass' sustaining a career-ending battlefield injury, going through operations and rehab and trying to make it back...
  9. I think somebody better define 'punt' as it applies here.
  10. Fans can believe or disbelieve, be optimistic or pessimistic. It doesn't matter. We can't do anything. Thinking that any of our opinions or outlooks matter is what I don't get.
  11. At least we have a pretty solid rumor to go on.
  12. I don't see what 'leverage' they would have lost. When you fire DD, hire Chaim Bloom, make David Price/Mookie Betts available, and you're in the third year of tax penalties, could it be much more obvious what the plan is?
  13. It's still supposed to be family entertainment.
  14. They didn't spend much last offseason but they did sign Eovaldi for 68 mill, plus WS MVP Pearce. The lack of bullpen was a mystery, but I think most Sox fans were feeling pretty good entering the season.
  15. Hinch knew about it but did nothing to stop it. That's the story, anyway. He got a one year ban regardless, right?
  16. The gals who flashed during the World Series last year got banned.
  17. We don't know that. Apparently Bloom was asking for 'the moon and stars' anyway.
  18. Not sure what you mean.
  19. OK, but I'm not seeing what Henry should have done differently. If he said there were no plans to cut payroll he would have been lying, and it would have been evident soon enough.
  20. So if Henry said they weren't cutting payroll, but then the team spent no money, there would be no issues?
  21. Why, what did it impact?
  22. Sign Bird and Buchholz and we're good to go.
  23. Maybe. But it was also what a lot of people were expecting, being Year 3 over the threshold and subject to punitive tax rates.
