  1. A lot of things led to this. Not least of them being Mookie's own philosophy.
  2. How much spending is enough to satisfy people? They spent more than any other team in baseball the last two years. This year they'll be all the way down to third or fourth highest in spending.
  3. Larry and DD did good things. Then they messed up. Now they're gone.
  4. 2012 - Larry picked BV. Then the Punto trade which could be pinned on Theo. 2015 - Not only Panda and HanRam, but Ben messed up on the pitching staff a wee bit.
  5. You're right about the last place finishes, but they certainly weren't because Henry was cheaping out.
  6. Can't read the article, but... The new tax system has only been in place since 2017. The Yankees re-set and then spent. The Dodgers re-set and then spent.
  7. Of course it is.
  8. 300/10 could be an albatross too, obviously. It's about drawing the line somewhere, isn't it? It's a difference of 12 million a year. It's not much different from you, moon and notin pointing out that 11 million is too much for JBJ, but 6 or 7 million would be OK.
  9. 'Behind the times': 3 words that have to send a chill down Rob Manfred's spine.
  10. If I saw two girls beating up on another girl I hope I would try to stop it.
  11. The fact that there isn't much of a step down from JBJ to Pillar means JBJ is redundant. He's gone. Bloom would not sign Pillar otherwise.
  12. I'm pretty sure Bloom is plotting moves on the pitching front.
  13. So you are for trading him, basically.
  14. I assume most are assuming this means JBJ is being traded.
  15. According to a report Tuesday in The Athletic, Beltran was the ringleader when it came to the scheme and ignored the protests of some coaches and teammates. Beltran joined the Astros before the 2017 season after spending the previous three years with the Yankees. According to The Athletic, when Beltran got to Houston, he told the organization its sign-stealing methods were “behind the times.” So after 3 years with the Yankees, Beltran tells the Astros their sign-stealing methods are 'behind the times'! And then after the 2018 season the Yankees hire Beltran as a 'special adviser'! Beltran is the Yankees sign-stealing smoking gun.
  16. The Marlins and Pirates are reminders of why we should be grateful for the Red Sox franchise's success over the last two decades.
  17. The reason it's interim is because the investigation isn't done.
  18. Oh I know. But they have been knocking on the door quite a bit.
  19. It's been a long freakin' investigation for some reason though...
  20. I'd say JBJ's dig at Eck was a little more under the radar. He didn't curse him out on the team plane.
  21. Here's my theory on JBJ: Henry went to Bloom and told him to make sure he kept him, because he was having a recurring nightmare of how bad our outfield looked with neither Mookie or JBJ out there.
  22. Yeah, but remember, you guys are more clever than Bloom. He just didn't think of this.
