  1. Sure looks like the halfway play.
  2. Hope springs eternal this time of year.
  3. There was never any question about that with Price.
  4. Price would be attractive if we ate enough money. It could be that the offers received were so underwhelming that the Sox said screw it.
  5. The sign Buchholz club lives on...me, Slasher, Dewey, notin, and Kimmi if she was here.
  6. The good news, as such, is that there was no cheating during the postseason.
  7. I hope you printed that off.
  8. Well, they could replace the bags with holograms. Those bags are pretty low-tech.
  9. Bloom is being hampered by the tax, of course. The Red Sox will pay 62% tax on payroll between 228 mill and 248 mill. So a 4 mill addition is actually a 6.5 mill addition.
  10. Obviously if we're going to sign Buch it would only be on a minor league deal.
  11. Frankly we're just making a bunch of assumptions about Mookie as if we know the guy like a best friend LOL
  12. If you really want the guy you go full court press. You keep him this year and treat him like gold. Then you take the same attitude in free agency that the Yanks did with Cole - we're not gonna be outbid.
  13. Well, there's Andrew Cashner.
  14. He pitched great in 2018, albeit for half a season.
  15. Sometimes when you feed the Boston sports media beast, the beast eats you.
  16. What would you expect him to say?
  17. His hands appear to be truly tied at the moment. Henry et al may have decided not to worry about re-setting, but they obviously don't want to spend money this offseason either. Plus we have little in the way of prospects to trade.
  18. Nothing that happens on a baseball forum is useful, it's just entertainment.
  19. Have any teams actually been using a closer-quality pitcher to do this?
  20. I've accepted the idea of bullpen games, but I don't really get the 'opener' concept, other than it can throw off the other team's L-R lineup strategy.
  21. The message is pretty clear now - they'd like to reset, but not at the expense of the 2020 team being competitive. On its face, that would rule out any payroll-cutting trades in which we get worse.
  22. Ha ha...I empathize, but any posts are better than no posts.
  23. He led the AL in walks largely because he pitched 203 innings. His 3.3 walks per 9 innings was exactly major league average.
