I couldn't put it better Ted and this is exactly how I feel, although while I see in Porcello and Miley workhorses, I do not see them posting ERAs below 4.

mmm... I think they are very different animals Pal. MB had several years with very solid ERA numbers below 4. 2001 3.29 2002 3.58 2004 3.89 2005 3.12 2007 3.63 2008 3.79 2009 3.84 2011 3.59 2012 3.74 ...and last year he posted a very solid ERA, 3.39. Seems like we weren't wrong in wanting him. Here's a very solid track record and a tendency for a true No. 2-3. On the other hand when you see Porcello's numbers, aside 2013, they are garbage. 2010 4.92 2011 4.75 2012 4.59 2013 4.32 Those are No 5-7 numbers. My take in this signing is that they do not want to s*** the bed like they did with Lester, but cmon, this is Rick f***ing Porcello we are talking about, sure a young but unproved pitcher. If you want to overpay a young guy like José Fernandez, Kershaw, Teheran, etc. it is understandable, but again, this guy has to prove at least two more years that 2013 was not a fluke year (I tend to think this) in order to earn this kind of money. They basically based this signing in one year, oh and because he is young. As I said, I do not see a 5 ERA pitcher as he once was, but I do not see a 3.5 ERA pitcher either. IMO He is going to be no more than a 4.0 ERA pitcher (No. 4 type), reason why I think this contract is terrible (spanish haha).

He has a terrible track record aside his 2013 season. His SO/9 is horrible even in his last unique good year. Porcello is not even close in my radar when I try to find some potencial 20 M/Y pitchers to throw at. I do not understand the rush either. This guy hasn't proved anything to deserve this kind of money, and one year is not a justification by any means. You passed on Shields and Lester but signed this nobody for 80? I don't not get it, really; he is young and all but again, do not understand the rush. Hopefully I'm wrong and he becomes for us at least a solid #2.

Porcello got an extension. Seems like 82/4. They really like the guy. I do not like Porcello at all and much less at that price but let's see how it works out.

Seems like he is 100% healthy entering into this new season, I want to see him this year first, in order to make an opinion regarding him for 2016. I think he is going to be fine this year.

This! I think everybody is doing this here. Problem is that some see the team more encouraging while some not that much, and is when the fights start. For example, to me our pitching could be ending up as the worst in the ALE easily, while the offense is probably the best in baseball, reason why I think this team is very, very unbalanced, even worse than 2011.

I'm using ST stats for betting purposes, but aside me no one here is taking ST stats seriously. Some are just sharing their thoughts of what some players are showing thus far, what is the big deal?

Buch is just another No. 4 or 5 these days. Having him or not, makes not substantial impact in our aspirations. On the other hand, I think that he has the highests ceiling in this rotation, but again it is a looooong shot.

mmm if he shares the job with the other OFs time to time and makes an internal competition for a spot everyday, I do not see that waste.
