    I do not like at all that logic/strategy. While they are putting all their chips on Offense, the pitching looks like very fragile.

    I think I saw at ESPNBoston.com 88 W. I perfectly understand your point, but based on 2011, 2012 and 2014 when we didn't make the POs with better pitching staffs on paper entering into a new season, this is the worst rotation I ever seen at least in the last 10 Y, but again that's me.

    When we face true #1 and Solid #2 we are going to struggle to match those games. Yeah, the upside is there but the ?s and injury prone issues probably are bigger, in the way I see the thing.

    Honestly, I don't see them making something remotely close to 20 M/Y when they hit the FA (these days money value; Net Future Value) I'm just asking for 2 solid/proven arms followed by 3/4 tier pitchers and a couple of prospects in your depth side. Is it too much to ask for a team which has one of the highest payrolls in baseball? Haha

    I'm not against to all high/long contracts. I think each potential contract is a particular case. BTW welcome to talksox Ogden.

    Not sure but should he gain some weight or something?... Probably his body shape is not helping him to stay healthy. It always has been a mystery to me what is going on with this guy regarding his physical condition.

    Sure but even with strong farm systems rich teams always will command the league in the long run. Also as Pal said, our farm system has not been good in recent years. Hopefully and at least Betts and XB become realities for us.

    It is fine to be optimistic and all but come on LOL. Sorry but this is the worst rotation I ever seen entering into a season, but that's me.

    Thing is that you just can not have a 9 all-star lineup and 5 cy young rotation, and those "nobodys" sometimes round very well a team while you give some AB/innings to your prospects. The mix is the prudent way to go.

    ... And probably is not that different in the majority of the teams. I think that even play only 1 game in the majors is a loooooooong shot.

    Not all FAs are attached to high/long contracts. Actually only a few command high/long contracts.

    I meant another prospect that didn't work out for whatever reason. Kalish another one, and the list is probably endless. Make the MLB at decent level for at least say 5 years is tough.

    Another prospect that did not work out. Probably for each consolidated prospect, out there are 20 high rated prospects, reason why FAs are usually better bets.

    Bard was another. I like prospects and all but how many of them even high rated end up in bush leagues/minors or at very best playing at mediocre MLB level? I think that coaches have to be cautious and take young kids' careers carefully. Hopefully Betts and XB are for real as well.

    This has been my concern all along. As you said, by the trade deadline it could be too late. Big IFS surround us mostly at pitching.

    Hopefully he becomes our next franchise catcher.

    I would like to live someday the spring training experience in FM. This year at least I'm going to be in Boston for the first time and for the first two games of the season at Fenway park. Probably next year I'll try to make my trip to FM.

    I just watched images of NYY and BOS and seems like it is getting tough. Hopefully everything is oks with you and your family my friend. Also, think about it, you'll be very soon in Fort Myers.

    Somehow I saw on Ranaudo some kind of potential. I even had more hopes on him and Kelly than I had in the combo they signed. At least he is from the farm, he is undercontrol and cheap. I do not know anything about this guy Ross. Hopefully I'm assessing this wrongly.
