  1. Yeah but those teams were in POs and with realistic posibilities to make a big splash. Do u really think this rotation is even comparable with those? Really? Again, hopefully I eat my words but I see a bunch of mediocre arms with serious prone injury issues in this current rotation.
  2. “We’re pursuing some stuff but I think it’€™s more what you would classify as depth related,” Cherington said. “…We like where we’€™re at. We like the collection of pitchers we have. We think there’€™s untapped potential in the group and the collection we have now can give us a strong pitching staff this year.” If true, the worst rotation on paper since I can remember entering into a new season.
  3. Thank you Fred, anytime I could give you some picks and hopefully help you win some extra cash but mostly put extra pepper and excitement to the game.
  4. Since Lackey, who has been our top dollar pitcher in recent years? No one has emerged from the farm since then either. It's time to spend on quality arms for once and for all.
  5. Yeah! A 190-200 M take it or leave it offer could have worked out at the time, I'm pretty sure as well. At the same discount rate it would have meant a NPV of 97 M with a cash flow of 20 M/10 Y.
  6. haha...Well, I'm not a golfing guy but it would be great to learn a bit and share with you and your friends a couple of shots of bourbons with a cigar while talking about baseball cp. Regarding JZ he would be a nice addition but again... why would we give up top prospects when Shields is still around, and he only would cost money. On the other hand, if they land JZ AND Shields (pipe dream) I'm all for it regardless the names of the prospects.
  7. Not sure which name would be, but at least 1 top prospect will be on the table.
  8. Well if the the cash flow is 15 M/14 Y (210 M), and the discount rate is around 10% in the next 14 Y (which is high IMO), the Net Present Value will be 110 M.
  9. They tried but shitted the bed on Lester. Their plan B was to sign these #4-5 combo and probably round them with a No. 1 which still too be seen. If they end up like this my feeling of frustration will be just the same as yours cp.
  10. This reinforces my argument... Fred is nice when you are nice regardless you agree or disagree in a specific topic. Problem is when you or anybody is attacked.
  11. I think I've been disciplined and cautious when I bet. Thanks God I haven't lost my mind reacting based on my feelings; I think it has been great part of this little success. Some still calling it lucky... well I think time will tell.
  12. Sure you both have had your differences, but in all fairness MVP, recently I think Fred has been very nice with you as far I remember. I have said this before, but while some posters talk about the FO and players (good or bad, Fred's case), others attack the poster. Of course, once you are attacked, like in Fred's case, you have to strike back, Newton's 3rd law haha.
  13. Thanks Ted. It is just a hobby in order to put more excitement and interest to the game. I began with 100 bucks and after 3 years running this model I have made around 10,000 USD, not bad for a fan huh LOL!. Even if I lose this money (unlikely considering the W tendency), it is still the money of the house haha. I see this just as the stock market... but instead of using economic metrics, I use a combination of basic and advanced baseball metrics arranged in a numeric method suggested by an IBM SPSS software (Recently incorporated to my model). I think I said before but this model works pretty decent (72 % of Hit Rate last season) when you bet on 4 1/2 handicap bets at bet365.com since it gives you an edge to away teams and makes it interesting in parlay/multilines tickets when these away teams are underdogs and their pitchers are at least their No. 2s.
  14. ... On the other hand, there was a poll on ESPNBoston.com some weeks ago, about the current rotation; not sure if you checked it out but it showed a considerable percentage (40%+ or so) who said that the actual rotation is ok going forward.
  15. Again, I'm not arguing that.
  16. Not sure what the "actual argument" is, but It's pretty clear that the majority of the fan base think that we need an extra arm, no one has disputed that. Maybe very few think that we are 2 arms away. I'm in that group.
  17. really? dammit! haha. Porcello better perform as some are projecting.
  18. hahaha yeah! I really thought they were going to land at least a No. 1. There's still time, hopefully they get it done.
  19. The whole rotation is a crap shoot, Ted. Geez They better land a No1. otherwise my trip to Boston won't worth it hahah.
  20. haha I'm not arguing the big letters. Still I do not like the "they can start the year with what they have, and retool on the run during the season" since it could be too late at the time or maybe no one valuable could be available.
  21. yeah... but not all fans will drink that kool aid.
  22. I do not like the "we'll be ok with a mediocre rotation since the ALE is mediocre" approach at all. Sorry but that is pathetic and L thinking. As you said, Porcello is our No. 1 right now. It sounds scary to me. He won't match other teams' No 1s.
  23. What kool aid? nonsense? haha come on man, I know you like Cherrys and all but your boy has been saying over and over again in all media that he feels comfortable and confident with the current rotation going forward, because he thinks it is oks and solid. Sorry but I do not buy that kool aid at all, It is pathetic; it is a bunch of #4s with injury prone issues. Is it a PR strategy? IDK. Maybe they do not want the fans get panic or maybe they are just afraid about tickets or a bit concern about TV rating going forward. IDK. Again....I do not buy that kool aid at all.
