  1. I would have also liked Shields, I'm kind of greedy you know.
  2. Well, that low risk/high reward strategy is at the rotation as well this year.
  3. Regarding Lester, they screwed it all along Kim. The evidence is out there and a lot has been discussed and I won't rewrite it all over again. The FO shitted the bed big time. So saying they executed wise on this regard, I do not think you are looking the whole picture.
  4. Welcome Ogden. I do not expect that all the contracts work out 100 % but If 70% of the contract works out I will call it deal.
  5. I do not like that strategy at all. Probably 1/100 would be the line.
  6. Yup. I'm hearing the same old story since I signed up here and such kind of thing never happened. Let's face it, they shitted the bed on Lester and they tried to compense with this combo. I do not see any of them filling his shoes even combined.
  7. Haha again your captious questions in effect.
  8. As I said I would have signed Lester and Shields even if that had meant not landing Panda and HR. Offense will be fine. What worries me is that the 2011 phenomena repeats all over again: it didn't matter how many Rs that team score, our pitching wasn't going to let us win, no matter what... And in the end of that season the pitching taxed that momentum to the O. It was scary.
  9. Hahaha come on man! I was pretty optimist entering into 2011 and 2014, at least give me that LOL!
  10. I see a very unbalanced team Kim. Some probably will go after my throat for this but I see in our team one of the worst 5 rotations in baseball right now Kim. Offense will be fine but unless we score a lot of runs, it will be a looooong season. Sure all teams have their ?s and all but I just can not understand how a high payroll team can go with a pitching staff like this. I just do not get it. As I said, hopefully I eat my words and everything goes fine for us next year.
  11. I've even seen a 9/1 odd to win the WS, the best shot I've seen to any team. But again, I do not buy at all.
  12. Yeah but I meant the whole low risk/high reward strategy.
  13. There's nothing to lose?, mmmm... I don't think FO and some fans agree. FO already put a high payroll out there and I do not know you but I do not want to spend another year with an insufferable season.
  14. I would love that side of the story... But since it is a long shot I'd hold my breath.
  15. LOL! Another injury prone arm. Well that's going to be the strategy, a bunch of low risk/high reward arms.
  16. Probably I'm a little bit more greedy my friend. I would have signed Lester and Shields. I would have liked as well to see Miley and Kelly with less pressure at 3/4 roles, while we prove some of our prospects in the depth side. That would have been my approach even if that would have meant not signing Panda and HR but you already had Cespedes in this scenario. Anyways... Let's see how this work out.
  17. Sure, probably he is not going to be a 5.0 ERA anymore but I do not see a 3.0 ERA either. My bet as I said is around 4.0.
  18. I think it was fluke year. 2009-2013 tells me more about the kind of pitcher he really is. Sure, he is young and could improve but I do not see a 3.4 ERA pitcher at all going forward. At very best around 4.0.
  19. I do not like Porcello at all. I think Miley and Kelly at No. 3/4 roles are oks to me. Masterson and Buch are huge ?s in my book, nothing to rely on... and that's it. They will call me negative and all but sorry this is how I really feel!
  20. Agree. We all want the Red Sox win this season. We only disagree about the strategy. While some feel ok going forward with this pitching staff, some of us do not. I see all the same mistakes we had in 2011, 2012 and 2014 regarding pitching but this year it is even more marked IMO. Hopefully I'm wrong and this pitching staff shows "El do de Pecho" haha.
  21. A couple of good arms wouldn't hurt anybody mostly to one of the highest payrolls in baseball, problem is and has been the strategy/distribution of the payroll.
  22. I think they thought Lester was a guaranteed addition. It was not. They shitted the bed, so they had to sign this combo in order to try compense that mistake since they were not going to Scherzer and apparently neither for Shields.
  23. TB do not have money. We have. You have that leverage and you are not using it at pitching. As I said, the mix is the prudent way to go, and will give you more chances to succeed.
  24. No, just the opposite. I think that while we haven't spent big bucks in pitching probably since Lackey (and which have been saying in recent years) they have assembled the worst version following that logic, fragile pitching staffs and strong O teams on paper.
  25. ohhh I see, my bad Bell but I do not know if I feel better or worse LOL!
