  1. Agreed Fred. We do not have to drink Cherrys Kool Aid. Sorry and maybe some will get angry but As it is, this rotation is a joke.
  2. Yeah, that too. As I said, if I were the Nats I wouldnt trade anybody. That rotation is nasty as it is, the best in majors IMO.
  3. For nothing? Lol If they make the WS, it won't be for nothing. They are in a very good position to win it all. Besides they could easily extend their contracts or go for other arms as well in 2016.
  4. If i were the Nats I wouldn't trade any of their current SPs either. It's crazy, while our #1 these days is Porcello, their #5 is Fister lol
  5. Yup, pitching. Just as Pal said
  6. I do not agree. As it is, I think that it could be too late to make a move in July.
  7. Not sure if Bill James is behind of not signing Shields, but as You said, it would be a mistake letting pass this opportunity with this kind of arm considering as well the price even if it drove up a bit.
  8. I like Bill James and all but Is it me or Bill James is a bit overrated?. Not sure how's his hit rate predicting these days but I do not think it is very good.
  9. Yup. 100 M would be a very fair contract for all parts.
  10. JZ would be my pick if we go via trade, but again, he will cost us top prospects and we do not need to do that.
  11. I'm supporting Pal's post since he said "The Sox need to find top tier pitching somewhere" and not the mechanism, but considering the signs showed recently by our FO I think they will do it (if so) via trading which would be absurd as I said . I agree with you, the best way to land SP is via FA without giving up any prospect.
  12. Well, say he signs for 5 Y and if the guy posts 3/5 Y good numbers (which is perfectly achievable), 1/5 Y league average numbers and 1/5 bad numbers, call it deal.
  13. Not sure what you mean with this but just as Pal said I am also tired of prospects that don't work out. The Sox need to find top tier pitching somewhere, hopefully via FA since they have money, and they clearly aren't paying top dollar on anyone these days.
  14. I would start signing Shields this offseason without giving up any top prospect and in 2016, I would sign another elite arm to round the rotation.
  15. 100 times this. As it seems, the more likely way (if so) to do this will be via trading which would be absolutely absurd, considering that Shields is still there and 100 M wouldn't hurt by any means JH's economy.
  16. haha So? You have at least to try to put your best version (on paper), then anything can happen.
  17. This should be the strategy since we are likely one piece away to win it all on paper.
  18. In all fairness, did 2012 rotation have this expectations at the beginning of that year?
  19. Also I have to say that some of us in August, on the other hand, predicted that collapse.
  20. I No one in this world at the beginning of 2011 thought that the 2011 rotation would collapse as they did. Great part of that year we were the best team in the majors. On the other hand no matter how bad I see this rotation, I do not see that epic failure since I do not have high hopes in the first place as I did in 2011. I think that the expectations are very very low at our rotation this year.
  21. Haha come on man! Beckett had more potential than anyone here. Wakefield too. Hopefully you are right and we do not end up like this.
  22. Even 2013 rotation had a lot question marks too considering how they ended up 2012, but this version is way far the worst IMO.
  23. A Exactly! Even 2006 rotation as MVP says had more "potential"
  24. Of course there's still time but all the signs say that we are going to go like this. If so AND "on paper", IMO this could be the worst rotation in the last 10 Y with one of the highest payrolls in the majors. What do u think?
  25. Yup. That's pretty much my point. I like Koji and all he did specially in the second half of 2013 and in POs, but he is way far to fill Pap's shoes. They are not comparable. I think no one is BOS' history at the closing spot.
