  1. 10 years of service back him up. Zero lucky here. The main problem at the time was not the year basis but the long of the contract since people like you were saying that he was going to decline and tons of BS, and he isn't. These days his numbers are solid and still posting what he has posted in his career (even better). No matter how much you want to rationalise this, no matter how much you hate him, no matter how much you want too make a fool of yourself, no matter how much you want to believe your own lies, THE GUY IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER CLOSERS... and yes... he is driving in Mo's highway hahaha.
  2. Plus, the problem at the time was not the year basis since you were already paying him 12 M, but the commitment throughout the 4 year since looked like "risky". Time is speaking by itself and the contract has worth every penny.
  3. When you post what he has posted, you can make that kind of money. Not even a handful have posted those numbers, reason why he is special and can not be treated like the others. Thing is, aside Mo nobody has posted those number consistently and with durability, and he has. Plus, these days, he is making in a year basis what he was making in 2011 which is a bargain considering the tons of money spent in fat busts signed in recent years while taxing us wins as well. Make the numbers you'll be surprised.
  4. Well, it seems so LOL, me and few others here and there projected that he was going to be ok... and well... he is. I make my opinions based on what I see, probably I could help the industry as you say LOL... He is pretty much the best closer behind Mo in the last 10 years in terms of consistency and durability. Let me put it this way, he is a guaranteed bet, son.
  5. Not that good? hahaha He's been one of the best closers in the last 10 years, period, like it or not, his numbers speak by itself. His name means pure consistency an durability, very rare on relief arms. He is different, I've been saying since his departure. Plus, You said that he was on a decline LOL!, you were death wrong. Thinking in a retrospective way and yet haven't made the numbers, we could have saved a lot money and wins with all the busts signed in the recent years.
  6. IMO Detroit should have done everything in their hands to get this guy last year.
  7. Yeah.. but it is not his fault, he is getting the job done, it's kind of the point.
  8. Seems like Papelbon is still driving on Mo's highway LOL. Hadn't checked his numbers but last year he posted a 2.04 ERA, 39 SV, 66 IP, 8.5 SO/9, 2.8 WAR. Just like the good wines. His contract has worth every penny thus far.
  9. While shifts are a nice "resource", STILL each individual performance at D is needed, mostly at SS spot when u have GB pitchers, no rocket science here. Hopefully XB improves his glove otherwise it could be a long season for him and the GB combo signed.
  10. Initially I said 200 M, I still think this could have gotten it done. You said that he could get another 20 just traveling to NY. I do not think so. At this point, I don't see him getting more than 180 M.
  11. Zero RC problems here, just the opposite. You are disputing that "No one here is content with the current state of the rotation" Again... 1. You are assuming that I'm referring exclusively to talk sox members which is death wrong. 2. BSN is saying "I'm ok with what they have now"; no matter how much you want to sugar coat it; he feels comfortable with the current rotation which is ok but I do not agree. Would he feel more comfortable with a No. 1? yeah! Nobody is disputing that... Fact is that he is ok with the current rotation, that's pretty much the point and is a fact. As always, You are the one who is taking things out of the context since you THINK and ASSUME what I'm talking about as facts for your own convenience and you actually have no idea what I'm talking about.
  12. I see this eye to eye with you dupree. f*** 2016. Win in 2015, I already purchased my tickets for god's sake LOL.
  13. Not sure why you are so interested on this, but... I can't speak for Fred's thoughts, but speaking for myself, yeah I meant everywhere; I have said this before a couple of times FYI. On the other hand, Posters like BSN feel ok going like this if we do not sign a No1, and still it is respectable. It's nothing wrong to think that we are already ok. Call me greedy or whatever but again, speaking for myself, I still feel that we need not 1 but 2 solid arms since I do not think that someone will emerge as No2, I've been saying this since last season ended.
  14. Hopefully XB improves his glove otherwise our "GB" pitchers could have a loooooong season.
  15. Your old reading comprehension drum, haha Seriously, haven't you seen people in social networks saying that we are oks if go like this? Even your boy Cherington is saying this. BSN is saying that if we go like this he's oks. I respect those opinions but I do not agree at all. YOUR reading comprehension is the one which is collapsing here.
  16. I #2? A consistent and durable 3.5 ERA pitcher. Sure, they all have pitched like #2 and even like No. 1. at some point. Problem is I do not see any of them posting a 3.5 ERA nor 3 or below like a No. 1 usually does. Almost every team has at least 1 or 2 #2. #1? Haven't counted but several teams have at lest one, and only a few have aces. Problem is I do not see a natural #2 nor #1 nor aces here who could match those teams. Sure you can argue about their upsides and potentials or whatever like Porcello's but IMO this guy will be destroyed. As I said, hopefully I eat my words. As for Kelly I've said before, I have more faith on him and Ranaudo than the combo just signed.
  17. No, it is not.
  18. Wonder what is going to happen when we have to face teams with true #1s and #2s.
  19. My friend, you see the game as it has to be seen: plain and simple. Your assessment is totally accurate.
  20. Becareful, some will call u negative haha You are totally right. This rotation as it is sucks, plain and simple... And the incredible thing is that we are likely going to go like this based on what cherries has been saying lately.
  21. You have a good point Bell and hopefully he doesn't turn into a 4.5 ERA pitcher as he's been in the past. While his GB% is high and doesn't walk too many people, his SO/9 and HR/FB are mediocre. It could translate into a lot of double plays and/or bombed.
  22. No? I'm not worried about the 2014 guy (3.4 ERA), I'm worried about the 2009-2013 guy (4.5 ERA) who actually represents more what he really is.
  23. Let me put it this way... I have zero confidence in Porcello next year just as I didn't have with Capuano in 2014. I see that some of you have high hopes on him and the other arms of the combo, maybe based on what he posted last year or his GB% or I do not know. Sorry but I do not. I think that he will be a 4.5 ERA pitcher and will be destroyed. Hopefully I eat my words.
  24. yeah my bad.. but they are still similar... and that was kind of the point. When I said they are in the same basket, was because first off of what I remembered and secondly when you look at some stats they are similar. On the other hand if u want to look at war or Gb or whatever, of course you will find differences.
  25. Check out the numbers, I already presented to u.
