  1. A lot of people, like who?
  2. I stopped reading after this: The Red Sox scored the third most runs in baseball last year by more than a 50 year margin. Anyone who doesn't think they're going to be one of the best hitting teams in baseball next year is fooling themselves. Only this time around they'll also have some of the best defense and pitching in baseball. We don't need to lead the league in runs scored when we're also a top pitching and defensive team.
  3. Yes, because we all know the secret to being a successful MLB team is to trade young, cost controlled players that could turn out to be the next Lester, Youkilis, Pedroia, Papelbon or Ellsbury for more expensive players.
  4. I LOVE the Bell Center. It's an incredible place to see a hockey game.
  5. That's not true. I've seen plenty of games in Toronto, and they get pretty into the Blue Jays. I think a large issue in Montreal was the language barrier with half the city. There simply isn't French baseball lingo. They had to kind of make up cheesy, often confusing terms to describe the game. And there's also the fact that the team was so bad. They only won one playoff series in 30 years.
  6. Isn't there some chart out there of his typical responses in which he thinks every prospect the Yankees have ever had is the next great thing? I'd say that garbage he just posted where he claimed the Yankees 4th starter in the GCL league was in line to be a major league pitcher confirms that.
  7. I disagree with Kelly being above Westmoreland and I'm entertained that Chapman is on the list, though I don't disagree with it. There are actually more players on this list that Cashman has recently traded (Vizcaino, Jose Tabata and Austin Jackson) than there are Yankees prospects.
  8. You just named 24 pitching prospects when talking about "players who are in line to contribute at the big level". We both know that it's impossible for that to happen. Why don't you make a list of the pitchers who you consider the top 10 Yankees pitching prospects, and we can evaluate how much quality pitching depth the Yankees actually have. Because naming your 4th best starter in the GCL league doesn't really mean much in a serious discussion about pitching depth.
  9. I doubt it. With the way they feel about the Habs, there's really only room for one team there.
  10. Yeah, you are right. I really didn't realize how far he's fallen. I suppose he'd make a good DH option for about $12 million though.
  11. I think it's a good thing as well. Dawson played almost twice as many years in Montreal as he did in Chicago. To me, it makes sense that he goes in as an Expo. An the Expos are a historical part of MLB history. There are a good many people in Montreal who miss having a baseball team. It's interesting when you go there how many Expos hats you see for sail. Obviously, you see a lot more Canadiens hats. But the Montreal logo has taken on an iconic status for Montreal pride.
  12. I think it was the Boggs rumor which made the largest difference, but you're right in that the Hall didn't officially change the rule until 2001, the year Winfield chose to go in as a Padre.
  13. Not so much. The Yankees traded away their best pitching prospect this offseason. Now their third best pitching prospect (Jeremy Bleich) has a career 4.89 ERA in the minors after coming out of college. And their fourth best pitching prospect (Brackman) has a career 5.93 ERA int he minors after coming out of college. They're pretty thin on pitching prospects.
  14. I'm with Youk. Don't be mad at the Hall, be mad at Wade Boggs!
  15. The vast majority of his value comes from his defense. Fangraphs says he's been worth -3.0 points of offensive over his career and he's been worth 19.9 points of defense. He's a career .256/.325/.352 hitter and as flashy as stolen bases are, they don't have much value offensively.
  16. I think it's apparent that our largest issue is offense. We're friggin last in the NHL in goals scored. Trading for Kovy and getting Savard and Lucic back in the lineup on a regular basis will improve that immensely. It's not like we're an all around bad team. We're a top 5 defensive team who's been barraged by injuries and struggles to score goals.
  17. Fenway will most likely benefit his offensive production. Do you disagree, or are we arguing just for the sake of arguing at this point?
