  1. Ortiz is reportedly in great shape and his shoulder feels better. He hit 28 home runs last year, if he could get 35 or 40 next year, we'd be in great shape. I'm not counting on it though. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=2494
  2. The Bruins outplayed the Kings all game and dominated overtime just to lose it in the shoot out. This is a game we could have won if we had any kind of scoring ability. It's like watching someone try to run through sand. It must be exhausting for the Bruins to have to play so hard just to get 1 point. At least we did get one point. But it's hard to be happy when it's the only point we've had in the last 16 days.
  3. I don't care if the Bruins get shut out through 2 periods, score the tying goal due to a mistakenly called major penalty on the Kings and then win in overtime by Doughty accidentally kicking the puck in the Kings goal with the back of his skate. At this point, we just need the points.
  4. It's not just that he's rude to people on the forum, but he also believes that he's some kind of beacon of maturity that's above all the "tainted blood" posters on this forum.
  5. If it's an issue, the Sox could bat Drew there. He's been a .900+ OPS guy each of the last two years and he's enjoyed the most success over his career in that spot. Problem solved. Drew was as good a hitter as Bay was last year anyways. There was only a .007 point difference in their OPS.
  6. Then when the Yankees didn't get Cameron you said: Then when the Yankees traded Melky, you said:
  7. I hope you aren't holding a grudge for pointing out how weak the Yankees bench was a month ago when they didn't have a single player with half a year's worth of major league experience.
  8. Wow, that would be a steal of the Tigers could work that out with Verlander. Of course, there is more of a risk in a long-term deal like that. But I'd say it would be a major positive for them. I like to see good, young players stick with their teams. Of course I wouldn't mind Mauer on the Red Sox either. I guess I'm a hypocrite, but I'm OK with that.
  9. It REALLY cracks me up that you think you're some kind of developmental expert. What, did you go to a few minor league games, read other people's scouting reports on the players and take a peak at their minor league stats. You're not more a scout than anyone on this board.
  10. In 2006 he was pitching in college, in 2007 he was pitching in the majors. That he was rushed to drastically probably also hurt him. But let's look at the facts. His fastball sits at 89 mph and his only other good pitch is his changeup. He had good numbers in the lower minors, but he was also pitching against players years younger and he had ugly peripherals. In his 2007 season in the minors (his most successful to date) he had a BABIP around .250 and stranded almost 80% of baserunners. When it comes to judging prospects, there's a lot more to it than looking at their ERA in the lower minors.
  11. Oh, I'm sure some scouts were intrigued by his ERA in the low minors. But I'm sure most of them also realized that he was many years older than most of those players and he didn't have very good stuff.
  12. Oh great, now you're drinking the kool-aid too.
  13. Yeah, to be honest it sounds like something the average guy in a bar who follows the Red Sox but really cares more about the Patriots or Celtics would say.
  14. You keep saying "a lot of people" or "people who followed college baseball" preferred Ian Kennedy (and his 89 mph fastball). Yet, you can't name anyone. Hmmm...
